A truly bizarre tweet to me that tries to get me along to BloggingCon by telling me Russian expansion is "cool". I mean, seriously?
@LuciaMariaNZ Hope we'll get a chance to see you next month @BloggingCon! Russian expansion, eh? That sounds cool. pic.twitter.com/LzUmUWgYS1

Hi Matthew,
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry I didn't notice your comment until now.
You ask a really valid question, and it's something I have been thinking about for a while.
Due to personal health reasons (mostly anemia), I haven't really been able to put the energy into putting forward comprehensive set of posts the way I would have been able to several years ago.
Hopefully, soon.
In the meantime, have a look at this: How the Russians lost the war, written by a Russian.
Wow, ok I had a look at the video. One scene in particular I recognised from a Russian attack on a Ukrainian held city from a video of that event that I had watched a while back. They're using their own attacks as propaganda against Ukraine. That last bit, with the American guy, who talks about "killing Russians" - there's no context for what he said, they just repeat that one phrase as if it's rap. So clearly propaganda.
ReplyDeleteI'd recommend having a look at video news reports by Vice News to contrast. Look at dispatch 105 to start.
An explanation, from the beginning, is probably best explained in the following two articles by Timothy Snyder :
ReplyDeleteUkraine: The Haze of Propaganda and Fascism, Russia, and Ukraine.
