Traditional Marriage Defended In Two Minutes

Fiona O'Reilly from Catholic Voices defends traditional marriage over same-sex marriage in two minutes on BBC News. Well said!

Russell Norman and His Message

I see Lucia has done a post on this as well, but I had to write something after just having seen this afternoon's One News and Russell Norman's statement that, "[Colin Craig] says he's Christian, well, Jesus Christ - if he believed in anything, he believed in love, tolerance and inclusion, not the politics of hatred that Colin Craig is promoting [...] Colin Craig should apologize to all new Zealanders for his disgusting and offensive comments. Let's live in a society of tolerance and inclusion - and love. That, surely, is what the Christian message, interpreted the best way, is all about" This angered me - a lefty socialist spouting off about what he thinks Jesus believed, when the Bible - God's own word - clearly points to homosexual conduct being wrong, in both the Old and New Testaments. When Norman talks about the Christian message, "interpreted the best way", he means interpreted the progressive, liberal way - Norman's way. Libera...

Gay Marriage and Civil Rights

You will frequently hear the proponents of gay marriage compare their 'struggle' for 'equality' with that of Martin Luther King, Jr and the Civil Rights protests that took place in America in the 1960s.  I do not believe that gay marriage is a "civil right", especially for the reason of "equality". For “equality”, the two things being compared must be equal, or “the same” with regard to the unique attributes or innate characteristics that define what those things are.  Thus, marriage has always been defined as being between a man and a woman - this is not “the same” or “equal to” two women or two men. Are a male/female couple the same as a male/male couple or a female/female couple? No, they are not. There are differences. For a start, two men or two women can’t have sexual intercourse (coitus). Some might argue that this argument falls apart when we compare it to racial equality - that in the past people have argued that a black man a...

Exorcism performed in Illinois after same-sex "marriage" bill signed

Bishop Paprocki in Illinois is brave man: In front of 500 followers, Paprocki asked God to “deliver us from evil” caused by same sex marriage. “I exorcise you, every unclean spirit, every power of darkness, every incursion of the infernal enemy, every diabolical legion, cohort, and faction, in the name and power of our Lord Jesus Christ,” he said. “Be uprooted and put to flight from the Church of God from souls created in the image of God and redeemed by the precious blood of the divine lamb. “Dare no more, oh cunning serpent, to deceive the human race, to persecute the church of God, to shake the chosen of God and sift them like wheat.” “Be gone Satan, father of lies, enemy of human salvation,” Paprocki said at the conclusion of the exorcism. “Give way to Christ, in whom you found no trace of your works. Give way to the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic church, which Christ himself won by his blood.” If only one had been performed in New Zealand by our Bishops, or even one of...

Socialists admit that their promotion of gay marriage and abortion is part of their strategy to replace global capitalism with Marxism

From LifeSiteNews, an article highlighting that promoting gay marriage and abortion is part of a socialist strategy to attack the family and thus replace global capitalism with Marxism. A publication of the international socialist movement has explicitly stated it is promoting abortion and gay “marriage” as part of a multi-pronged campaign to “replace global capitalism” with Marxism. The admission came on Monday in an article entitled "How Can We Change the World?" by Todd Chretien in the Socialist Worker, which is published by the International Socialist Organization. The ISO proudly “stands in the tradition of revolutionary socialists Karl Marx, V.I. Lenin, and Leon Trotsky.” ... Today's young people, Chretien hoped, would carry on a social revolution by waging war on the family. “When you break the statistics down by age, race and gender, you see what the powers that be are afraid of,” he wrote. “Some 68 percent of people between the ages of 18 and 34, 60 p...

NZ Redefined A Societal Institution For 0.7% Of The Country

Yep, according to today's NZ Herald which has the statistics for how many gay couples are in New Zealand and Australia, we just redefined a societal institution for less than 1% of the country. Here is the takeaway - Same-sex couples Australia *  1996 0.3 per cent *  2001 0.5 per cent *  2006 0.6 per cent *  2011 0.7 per cent New Zealand *  2006 0.7 per cent. And here is more of a breakdown in the numbers - Australian Census figures show that same-sex couples have increased from 0.3 per cent of all couples in 1996 to 0.7 per cent, or 33,700 couples, in the 2011 Census. New Zealand's 2006 Census found that 0.7 per cent of Kiwi couples were in same-sex relationships. In both countries, homosexual couples are younger, much better educated and better paid than heterosexual couples, although the pay differences partly reflect more heterosexual women (and some men) taking time out of paid work to bring up children. In Australia, 1.6 per cent of...

Marriage Day? You've got to be kidding.

Stuff: Richard Rawstorn and Richard Andrew are already civil union partners but want to receive the same rights as opposite-sex couples. Today is the day that New Zealand (in law) no longer recognises real marriage. It's been a long time coming, what with divorce, contraception, the removal of the need to consummate a marriage; and now we have the absurd situation where two men or two women can pretend that they are able to get married, and the State participates in this delusion. To celebrate this historic occasion, same-sex couples such as Richard and Richard pictured above, are upgrading their civil union to a marriage to get the same rights as male and female couples.  Someone's going to have to break this to them - they don't have the same ability and therefore the right to procreate with each other.  No matter how much they try and take temps and watch for mucous, a little baby Richard will not miraculously appear in one of their tummies. David Farrar calls t...

Be proud of what’s been done to you, even when it hurts

My title is chosen from within the article I've linked to. It refers to the child's pain of being different, of not having a mother or a father, and to have to put on a brave face to the world, because that is what is expected of them. This is personal for the writer, Robert Oscar Lopez, because he knows what it's like to be raised by two lesbians. He's one of the very few that are now grown and are able to talk and write about their experiences. He considers two men or two women bringing a child into their relationship on purpose to be abusive. Worst of all is a same-sex parenting home that arose because two homosexuals contrived the situation knowingly, in order to experience parenting . These are cases in which divorce was initiated by a gay spouse, with the explicit goal of setting up a new gay parenting household, and then custody was transferred (often in an ugly family court process). Or where lesbians went to a sperm bank. Or where two homosexuals ...

Pope Francis' first encyclical on faith reiterates that marriage can only be between one man and one woman

This will upset the liberals who imagined that Francis might support same-sex unions. The message loud and clear is that he doesn't - marriage can only ever be between one man and one woman. ROME, July 5, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In his first encyclical letter, released this morning, Pope Francis has reiterated that marriage is a union of one man and one woman for the procreation and nurturing of children. This lifelong pledge is possible only in the light of a greater plan for marriage, he said: “Promising love for ever is possible when we perceive a plan bigger than our own ideas and undertakings, a plan which sustains us and enables us to surrender our future entirely to the one we love.” Titled Lumen Fidei (The Light of Faith), the encyclical is known to have been authored mainly by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who was still working on it at the time of his abdication and it strongly reflects the theological style of Francis’ predecessor. In his introduction, Pope Fr...

Men With Same Sex Attraction Speak About Traditional Marriage

There is a very interesting blog post HERE by a minister on the dissertation he gave at a theological seminary. He interviewed Christian husbands who had (or still have) same-sex attraction and their responses are very interesting about what makes traditional marriage to a woman different and unique. There are those who can teach us the difference between “intergendered” unions (between two people of different genders) and “monogendered” unions (between those of the same gender). In fact, there are plenty of them in our churches. Sadly, they get ignored, insulted, or shunned, yet they are the ones before whom we should all be quiet and listen. Who, you ask? Simply those who feel long-term same-sex attraction (SSA), and who may have even acted on those feelings in gay relationships in the past but who came to decide, in their Christian commitment, to marry the opposite gender instead. Ex-gay Christians who have been happily married for years are the best instructors what the diff...

The role of heretical gay Catholics in the destruction of marriage

As millions celebrate today the Supreme Court's striking down of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), many will be giving thanks to Edie Windsor, the 83-year-old plaintiff in the case, and her lawyer, Roberta Kaplan. What most people will not know, however, is the instrumental role that a few members of the New York City chapter of DignityUSA played in this historic moment. DignityUSA is an organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Catholics that was formally expelled by the Roman Catholic church in 1986 by then- Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger . Among the NYC chapter's many members is Brendan Fay, an Irish-born activist and filmmaker who lives in Queens with his husband, Tom Moulton. After DOMA was signed into law in 1996, Fay and his friend and fellow activist Jesus Lebron began working for marriage equality, organizing a rally on the steps of Manhattan's City Hall in February 1998. They continued to organize and participate in rallies, discussio...

Will intimidation be enough to get same-sex marriage past the Lords in Britain? [UPDATE]

Anti-Same-Sex Marriage Protest in France - one million turnout The politics around same-sex marriage is really interesting. Unlike other real civil rights issues, this one is being entirely driven by the elites responding to a small, but vocal lobby group of activists. It is opposed strongly by large percentage of the population in most countries where it has been passing lately, yet this does not seem to slow down it's progress despite the electoral kiss of death it confers. As Brendan O'Neill explains : Throughout modern history, big, democratic, civil rights leaps forward have had two things in common. First, they were demanded by very large and often very angry sections of the public; and second, it took ages and ages for the political classes to concede to them. And when they did eventually cave in and legislate for the new liberty or opportunity being demanded by the hordes, they tended to do so begrudgingly, often while wearing a sneer... ... Suicide over same-sex marriage in Notre Dame Cathedral

A 78-year-old man has killed himself inside the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris in the French capital, police say, causing its evacuation. The man pulled out a shot-gun and shot himself through the mouth beside the main altar shortly after 16:00 (14:00 GMT). He has been named as Dominique Venner, an award-winning far-right historian. Mr Venner had recently been involved in the campaign against the government's decision to legalise gay marriage. On Saturday, President Francois Hollande signed the bill into law. Police said Mr Venner had made no statement before killing himself, although a note was found next to his body. They did not disclose its contents. Screengrab of Dominique Venner's blog (21 May 2013) Dominique Venner's latest blog entry condemned the government's decision to legalise gay marriage Earlier on Tuesday, he had written on his blog a damning critique of the same-sex marriage bill. "New spectacular and symbolic actions are needed ...

U.S Lobby Group Wants Gay TV Marriage

Fictional gay TV couple that ACLU is lobbying  to get "married"  This is getting ridiculous now. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a lobby group whose stated mission is "to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States." (Thanks WIKI ). And what do they want today? They are pushing for a gay fictional couple from the TV series Modern Family  to get married because they think it will bring more acceptance of gay marriage. So they've started an online petition in the hopes that they can pressure the writers of the show to make it happen. In their own words - "For many, Mitch and Cam are the gay couple with whom they interact with the most," the ACLU noted. "Inviting 13 million people to Mitch and Cam’s wedding will only bring more people into the push for marriage equality." They and other homosexual advocacy groups bem...

Forcing people to accept sexual practices they don't agree with

It used to be that the sexual revolution's catch cry was to get Government out of the bedroom. Now, it seems, it's to get Government to force people to accept sexual practices they don't agree with under their roof. The approval of same-sex marriage has opened the door and now a NZ B&B couple could be in trouble for turning away lesbians who wanted to sleep together from staying at their house over-night. A lesbian couple have been turned away from a Whangarei guesthouse that refused to let them share a bed . Jane Collison, 30, and Paula Knight, 45, made an online booking for a room with a king-sized bed at the Pilgrim Planet Lodge. But when they arrived on Tuesday, they were told only rooms with single beds were available. When they queried the booking, the owner eventually told them the booking was correct, but she was offended by same-sex couples sleeping in the same bed . She would not even let them push two singles together. They eventually found accomm...

Do you value diversity of thought and tolerance of dissent?

If you do value diversity of thought and tolerance of dissent , then you too, like Brendan O'Neill writer for Spiked, must be finding the sweeping consensus on gay marriage terrifying . Amazingly enough, the Greens in NZ must be worried as well, having come out in support of Family First , who are being struck off as a charity for donation rebate purposes by the NZ Government. John Stringer thinks the timing of Family First's deregistration is probably a coincidence .  Some how I doubt that it is, and in general I don't believe in coincidences.  The recent marriage debates have made Family First a target for people who vehemently disagree with them.  People must have complained about to Internal Affairs who then agreed with the complainant(s).   Had the marriage debates and subsequent escalation of profile of Family First not occurred, then I doubt they would have been noticed and complained about and deregistered at all.  Individuals in Internal Affair...

Maurice for Mayor - Be ye not afraid

Maurice Williamson for Mayor ? Maybe he'll be knighted? Because some pundits are predicting a Knight Mayor. I have no opinion on that, but based on prior form, I can predict his his acceptance speech: "I'm prepared to exercise foononcial risponsabile-tee" No Maurice, it's pronounced "Financial Responsibility" "Sorry, I've never tried it ." It remains to be seen if Maurice can gain enough gravitas to obey the laws of physics, although now that he has spoken in favour of redefining marriage and supporting gay adoption he is certainly fancied as a man person of the people.  Ellen Degeneres certainly fancies him, and the more he's fancied by others, the more he might fancy himself as Mayor.  It's called circular logic, which is his strong suit. Maurice is currently popular with Greens and Labour supporters (aside from his politics) so many are saying the NZ right should be extremely happy because he is in the National par...

Topless female gay activists attack Catholic Archbishop with water

No dissent will be tolerated, especially when a Catholic Archbishop says that Christians with homosexual tendencies need to be celibate: BRUSSELS, April 23, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - In an astonshing display of gentleness in the face of a vile attack, the head of the Catholic Church in Belgium, Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard , remained calmly seated with eyes closed in prayer Tuesday as four topless women attacked him with shouts and curses and doused him with water. [...] The four women , representing the pro-abortion and homosexual group FEMEN, took to the stage where they disrobed to reveal black-painted slogans on their bare chests and backs , such as ‘my body my rules,’ and 'anus dei is coming.' They also held signs reading ‘stop homophobia’. The women doused the archbishop with water from bottles formed in the image of the Virgin Mary. For most of the attack, which lasted a number of minutes before the women could be forced off stage, Archbishop Leonard s...

Congratulations to the NZ Gay Community

Well, the debate on the redefinition of marriage is over, and gay people, under the eyes of the state are able to use the word marriage alongside hetero-sexual couples. At an individual level, I can understand the joy and comfort this brings to many sincere people on the other side of the debate, and especially to gay people who have entered into a lifelong commitment with one person in the full sense of "for better or worse, until death do us part". I am happy for you. I am also grateful, that in spite of many bad things about the quality of the debate, we at least had one. There is much to criticize (and that might be explored in future posts), but for this post, I think it is also worth acknowledging that there was at least a little bit of effort to discuss this issue. To me, the debate, in the simplest form, was a debate where one point of view focused on defining marriage as something based on mutual love and commitment between any two people OR that the definiti...

The HandMirror has a post on what's next now that same-sex marriage is out of the way

LudditeJourno starts her post with this: So now we’re beyond Marriage Equality, what next? The indicators of homophobia, biphobia and transphobia are still all around us. Who gets bullied at school? Who disproportionately wrestles with mental health issues, depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicide? Who has hate graffiti on their walls? Who is targeted for violence on the streets, in their workplaces, from their families? Who is not able to look at any media, anytime, and see someone who looks a bit like them, wrestling with some of the things they think about? That last bit is about heteronormativity , for when we look at the media, most of the time it shows heterosexual relationships.  Then the post goes quite a bit into personal experience, some of which is to do with kids being kicked out of home when their parents discover their homosexuality, or more to the point, just whom their son or daughter loves. That's awful, in my opinion to turf a child out of the home ...
