End of Year Paperwork

Thanks to all our visitors last year. Open Parachute has compiled a listing of some of the other NZ blogs out there: 2012 Blog Rankings .

Blog Stats for April 2010

Author activity is down considerably this month, and so is the visitor count. On the plus side, we passed our 200,000th unique visit mark in the past week which is some sort of milestone on the internet highway. With the media attention on the Catholic Church, one of our old posts has a high visit count for the month: Vatican City and the Age of Consent and also another post has found high hits: The Latest Papal Scandal - The Facts . My satirical post, New Scandal Rocks the Church caught a momentary blip, but might pop up again when the Pope visits the UK. Although now that the entire foreign office has been exposed as completely anti-Catholic , one has to suspect that sort of virulent anti-Catholicism persists across all UK government departments. (Note: That sentence was satire. Nod if you get it.) We started the month with Easter , and ended with a discussion on wondering how far left of Labour is John Key ? With signing on to the UN DRIP in secrecy , then pushing thro...

Blog Stats for March 2010

Whatever was keeping us busy Jan and Feb has fallen away and we have averaged out a bit.  Basically, post less and receive less visits.  But it's not all about numbers, surely it's the quality of our commenters!     The stats for March are

Blog Stats for February 2010

February seems to have matched January, given the month was 3 days shorter. We are showing more activity than at the end of last year too. It would have to be the month of Andrei, as he's carried the blog whilst we others appear to be fairly distracted with other things. Such are the cycles of life and blogging. Thanks Andrei! Thanks readers! The stats for February

Blog Stats for January 2010

January proved to be a busy month, with a record number of posts and a record number of visitors.  There was a surge of visitors seeking information on Whaleoil as well as many searches on name suppression.   This is most likely a temporary spike, although I do hope a few of those visitors found something interesting and keep coming back! The stats for January

Blog Stats for December 2009

I haven't done the blog stats for a couple of months, but they seem pretty close. December is also a time to list the stats for the year, so that's what I have done. Looking at the 3 year history of the blog, there is a steady increase in unique visits from year to year; wonder if this will continue? I've also thrown in stats on the most popular resolutions and operating systems, based on the last 10,000 visits or so. Chrome does well, until you add in ALL the different Firefox versions. Safari is also showing some strength, but there are low numbers recorded for Mac OS. There's a definite Mac community out there, but Windows continues to dominate.

Confessions of a Masturbatory Blogger

Adult Content. Rated "Over The Edge". My apologies for any offence caused. Sometimes, a mirror seems the most appropriate response, even if the reflection is ugly. NZ Conservative has been outed as a masturbatory blogger , flashing our stats for all and sundry to see. It's time for me to come out and confess. Yes, it is true. All true. Sob. Please, allow me to explain. I once exposed my statistics willingly to all and sundry, not for the gratification, but because I had found out some-one was sneaking into my blog and perving at my stats without my knowledge. They then published my stats on another blog, and (I’m embarrassed and humiliated to say) discovered they ranked me for size and penetration and the number of partners I had encountered during the month. Is that rape or what? Any normal person would have screamed “victim”, but I was of tougher mettle. I discovered this sad individual was doing this on a regular basis, across many blogs. And it took him hours ...

Tumeke Stats for December 2008 and more

Like lemmings off a cliff, our stats have plummeted rather like a brick. Not surprising really. December was unofficial holiday month. Our output was about half the number of posts as usual. The election was over, and Labour was out. As each week went by, the government accounts grew worse and Goff was no doubt relieved the media couldn't find the energy to castigate them as deserved. National have been off running, rushing and pushing legislation through with ill-considered haste. I couldn't be bothered keeping up. If only they removed bad legislation as quickly. The world-wide financial crisis continued to dominate, with a 40 billion dollar pyramid scheme coming to light. Just the kind of thing that gives capitalism a bad name. To many, capitalism is just another word for greed. That applies as much to the financial institutions and top level management as it does their traditional enemies - the communists, anarchists and too frequently, even the socialist. Until...

Tumeke Half Done

Scrubone at blog Half Done has half done the Tumeke Stats for October. Basing the rankings on the Alexa and Technorati stats and dividing some numbers here and there, he comes up with an interim list. It works quite well, at least from my point of view, as we sit about 9th in the NZ Blogosphere (it says 8, but WhaleOil's Technorati score looks off, and I think he'd move to number 2 or 3 after correction). Go have a look and see where your blog ranks on the unofficial Tumeke Half Done NZ Blog Rankings for October(TM)(C) void where prohibited, all rights reserved . TUMEKE Stats for October 2008

It's ratings time again. I now gather our blog stats to save Tim of Tumeke some time. Last month we ranked 24. We seem to have a small but regular group of readers and quite a few casual and occasional drop ins. It's been hard to put the time in on so many posts I have yet to do, but my co-authors have picked up the slack and that's been great, as it adds a good level of variety of topic or perspective, aside from the fact that we are pegged as a Conservative/Catholic blog. The election heats up, and that might be increasing the hit count of all blogs who mention Winston, Batman, H1 or flogging off State Owned Assets (like your mortgage or bank deposits in about 4 months time). And Michael Phelps still pops up on the Google list of incoming search terms, brought in by this post: Michael Phelps Training Secrets . Amazing. Stats for October 2008: A. Visitors: 6,165 (5,909) B. Pageloads: 11,091 (10,772) C. Average Daily Unique Visits: 199 (197) D. Alexa World Ranking: 3...

TUMEKE Stats for September 2008

As I predicted , New Zealand Conservative worsened in the Tumeke blog rankings for August, even though our stats overall have been improving. September was our best result ever, and yet we will fall further. Why? This is because since August we supplied our actual StatCounter results. Until that point Tumeke extrapolated our visitor count based on Alexa rankings. The extrapolation method generally puts us in the top 20. Actual stats move us up to the 20-40 band. The problem is that Tumeke is using the extrapolation method for most blogs and actual stats for just a few, and I suspect the extrapolation formula is out of kilter for a range of blogs. What makes it worse is that I've had to 'correct' the unique visitors counter and it will drop compared to last month's results, but (unfortunately) I think this number is accurate. In the name of truth - blog rankings be damned! FWIW, my suggestion to Tumeke is to HALVE the Alexa stat estimates (which is probably clos...

TUMEKE Stats for August 2008

Tim Selwyn is reporting that the collation of site stats to create a NZ blogosphere ranking is taking him days. So I thought I'd start posting my stats to help him out. Although, I'm also thinking that either a program to generate these across the blogosphere, or a more quickly derived formula would be the way to go. It took me a while to work out how the stats were derived, and it seems to me the Alexa stats are off (higher) compared to our Site Meter stats, by about 10-20% (from two months data). The way I read it, Tim uses site stats when available, and Alexa estimates when not. Unless Alexa matches exactly with the site meters, then there will be an unfair disparity between scores, especially if the difference is 10 to 20%, as my small sample indicates. On the other hand, Tim sampled a dozen or more sites and found a much smaller difference. His graph is here: Tumeke Blog Traffic Another wrinkle across meters is the way unique visits are measured. The unique count ...
