ZenTiger Friday Night Free For All

It's the fifth day. Beethoven's day. Beethoven's fifth at least? Whatever, it's quiet out there. Too quiet. Can you feel the storm brewing? No? Well, let's have a chat and just perhaps keep one eye on the river.

It's one of my favourite songs actually:

Look out, Mama,
there's a white boat
comin' up the river
With a big red beacon,
and a flag,
and a man on the rail
I think you'd better call John,
'Cause it don't
look like they're here
to deliver the mail
And it's less than a mile away
I hope they didn't come to stay
It's got numbers on the side
and a gun
And it's makin' big waves.

Daddy's gone,
my brother's out hunting
in the mountains
Big John's been drinking
since the river took Emmy-Lou
So the powers that be
left me here
to do the thinkin'
And I just turned twenty-two
I was wonderin' what to do
And the closer they got,
The more those feelings grew.

Daddy's rifle in my hand
felt reassurin'
He told me,
Red means run, son,
numbers add up to nothin'
But when the first shot
hit the docks I saw it comin'
Raised my rifle to my eye
Never stopped to wonder why.
Then I saw black,
And my face splashed in the sky.

Shelter me from the powder
and the finger
Cover me with the thought
that pulled the trigger
Think of me
as one you'd never figured
Would fade away so young
With so much left undone
Remember me to my love,
I know I'll miss her.

So bringing the kids to the WMD for a boys day out?

Only place you can get to fire a catapult on a range.

Good evening, people.

Evening all.

So, when and where? Is there a fair on in the Wairarapa (he says looking vaguely ignorant of world affairs)

Hi. Are we doing puns again?

ZenTiger said...

I had ten really good puns in at a pun competition. I thought at least one would win, but no pun in ten did.

Maybe I was distracted watching Matrix Ping Pong

A three legged dog walks into a saloon in the Old West.

He slides up to the bar and announces: "I'm looking for the man who shot my paw."

Lair of the Black Dog KG, have you been having tea and scones with Dear Leader?

Now, to paraphase Whale Oil, are lefty women truffle hunters.
I have stirred up some debate on that, which makes a change from discussing Islam.

I have a couple of smutty tales posts planned for the weekend.

Indeed, the end might not be so weak when they are online :)

Lol, FFM--nope. I wouldn't stoop so low.
That ugly lefty wimmin post of yours sure stirred up some aggravation, didn't it?

I'm ensconced in the comfort of my home. Having a quick look around the blogs, having been on "low-blog" for the last while, I'm feeling a little bit behind the times.

Seems the other 3 blog authors are in much the same boat (to go with George's Wahine theme) and taking a bit of a blog holiday.

Meanwhile, Labour arranges the deck chairs and hopes their FTA with China will help move them up the polls. Bit of a coup for them I must say. Another 180 martial arts instructors, extra tour guides and extended shopping hours at the Warehouse should really turn the economy around.

In my seafaring days I had a bos'n who would appear on the bridge and announce his presence in the dark with "Nice night for a collision/shipwreck/grounding/engineroom fire/cook-strangling"..etc etc

His scenarios for peril were almost as comprehensive as the Green Party. Difference was, he had a sense of humour.

Yep ... probably more fun to be had in eating one's greens.
& Zen you're far too optimistic about the China FTA ... the '180 martial art instructors' will all be empty-handed.

Gee, what a blow.
