There you go. No big deal. Not that hard is it?
And Cactus Kate last month, on what it will cost John Banks to support the redefinition of marriage:
One Press release and questions from media, one day of his life. That's all. Both the comments above highlight exactly how Satan works to tempt people to do what they don't want to do. It's no big deal, it's just one day of your life, not that hard. And then what you've done what he wants you to do, you can't take it back, you can only ask for forgiveness and try and make up for it - OR - you deny your own own conscience and pretend it was ok to do. If you do the latter, he's got you good, but unfortunately, denied consciences cause all sorts of other problems.
Here's the Venerable Fulton Sheen on the devil and how he works and how different Our Lord is before we do something wrong.

Oh my god, you must seriously be scraping the bottom of the barrel to compare equality to Satan, a fictional creature made up to scare people who believe in another fictional character
ReplyDeleteMost of the people in Hell didn't believe in it before they died.
ReplyDelete"Most of the people in Hell didn't believe in it before they died."
ReplyDeleteHow do you know that?
Sb
Is hell a new name for the six foot hole in the ground that they now inhabit?
ReplyDeleteLucia doesn't know that anyone is in Hell. The Catholic Church doesn't teach that anyone is in Hell.
ReplyDeleteLucia would do better to leave off demonizing those who disagree with her and stick to presenting the formidable case against same sex marriage, for which she has presented some very good arguments.
God Bless
SB,
ReplyDeleteMy confirmation saint (St. Maria Faustina Kowalska) had a vision of Hell, so that no soul could say that they had not been warned.
See Sister Faustina's Vision of Hell
In her vision, she noticed that most of the souls there had not believed that Hell existed.
"I, Sister Faustina Kowalska, by the order of God, have visited the Abysses of Hell so that I might tell souls about it and testify to its existence...the devils were full of hatred for me, but they had to obey me at the command of God, What I have written is but a pale shadow of the things I saw. But I noticed one thing: That most of the souls there are those who disbelieved that there is a hell." (Diary 741)
The Apostle of Divine Mercy
St. Maria Faustina Kowalska
of the
Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy
"Today, I was led by an angel to the Chasms of Hell. It is a place of great torture; how awesomely large and extensive it is! The kinds of tortures I saw:
The First Torture that constitutes hell is:
The loss of God.
The Second is:
Perpetual remorse of conscience.
The Third is
That one's condition will never change.
The Fourth is:
The fire that will penetrate the soul without destroying it. A terrible suffering since it is a purely spiritual fire, lit by God's anger.
The Fifth Torture is:
Continual darkness and a terrible suffocating smell, and despite the darkness, the devils and the souls of the damned see each other and all the evil, both of others and their own.
The Sixth Torture is:
The constant company of Satan.
The Seventh Torture is:
Horrible despair, hatred of God, vile words, curses and blasphemies.
These are the Tortures suffered by all the damned together, but that is not the end of the sufferings.
Indescribable Sufferings
There are special Tortures destined for particular souls. These are the torments of the senses. Each soul undergoes terrible and indescribable sufferings related to the manner in which it has sinned.
I would have died
There are caverns and pits of torture where one form of agony differs from another. I would have died at the very sight of these tortures if the omnipotence of God had not supported me.
No One Can Say There is No Hell
Let the sinner know that he will be tortured throughout all eternity, in those senses which he made use of to sin. I am writing this at the command of God, so that no soul may find an excuse by saying there is no hell, or that nobody has ever been there, and so no one can say what it is like...how terribly souls suffer there! Consequently, I pray even more fervently for the conversion of sinners. I incessantly plead God's mercy upon them. O My Jesus, I would rather be in agony until the end of the world, amidst the greatest sufferings, than offend you by the least sin." (Diary 741)
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your endorsement of my arguments against the redefinition of marriage.
This post isn't about demonising people, it's about pointing out how the devil operates in convincing people to do wrong. Anyone can take on demonic ways, even myself, I know I'm not immune.
Anyway, I do take seriously the need to warn people about the existence of evil and how it operates.

ReplyDeleteLucia I totally respect your right to express your faith and to say whatever you like on your own blog.
ReplyDeleteBut I must ask you what do you think you will achieve by inferring people are doing the work of satan? By implying Cameron has more in common with Satan than he does God?
You have to start asking yourself what is the pay off when you state these things in a public forum.
From what I can see you gain very little except perhaps moments of false righteousness which in my view is as far removed from God as one can get.
My suggestion - be concerned with your own salvation as worrying about others and judging them want secure you a place inside the pearly gates.
Unsolicitedious,
ReplyDeleteThere is no pay off for me. I've been blogging for more than seven years now, and, if it was all about me, I would have stopped several years ago.
However, have got to the stage now where I will not be cowered into silence. We Catholic have this concept of Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy, whereby it's not about the pay off, it's about helping people.
It's like if a little kid is going to run in front of a car, most people don't think about what the pay off is for them in rescuing that child, they'll run out there and grab the kid.
I'm willing to bet that pretty much everyone criticizing me on this issue has not listened to the Fulton Sheen You-Tube explanations.
As always, well said Lucia.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read what St. Maria Faustina Kowalska had to say, it immediately reminded me (again with trepidation) what St Paul wrote in 2 Thessalonians 1:7b-9
...when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,
People are free to ignore the Bible and in one way, in the West at least, I think warning people of their sin and yet God's love for them in Christ's sacrifice is better than warning about Hell first.
So, without sounding too patronising (and knowing that I am too a sinner saved only by Jesus' sacrifice at Calvary) I would encourage people to consider who Jesus is and what he did and your own state of imperfection. God is never far away.
It's gay marriage.
ReplyDeleteBy definition a lot of people are saying stupid things about it, mainly by pretending it's possible.
