Wow! My first reaction is that I salute the bravery and faith exhibited by stepping aside for some-one more youthful and healthy, although it's hard to know who will actually receive the mantle.
ReplyDeleteI trust the new Pope will be as wise and build upon the foundations he laid.
I find it a bit worrying, after hearing or reading somewhere that this Pope would actually be the last one.
ReplyDeleteFletch, he won't be. By Easter we will have a new one.
ReplyDelete"In Catholicism, there is no right or left but only orthodoxy and error." - Timothy Stanley
ReplyDeleteFrom my early teens, always been a big fan of Pope Benedict from the 'time' of Ratzinger.God bless this intellectual giant, this man of humility, this man of faith. Peter indeed!
I think I go with the line that Our Holy Father outwitted the wolves (no pun intended) with this bolt (almost) form the blue.
An interesting co-incidence is that our priest on Sunday (a fire and brimstone guy - yes they still exist in NZ:)mentioned that something big is brewing. Most certainly bigger than Our Holy Father's resignation methinks.
God Bless you Holy Father - the Pope of Christian unity
"In Catholicism, there is no right or left but only orthodoxy and error."
