Good heavens what were these New Zealand soldiers up to?

Enough of the self righteous posturing already

  1. One awaits with bated breath further examples of Putin's new-enthusiasm for the self-determination of any group with a majority in the region they're living in. What a proliferation of referenda there will be! In Chechnya, Ingushetia, Dagestan, Ossetia, Abkhasia - or not, as the interests of empire dictate...

  2. The Ingush were part of Chechnya and asked for and got their own republic in the 1990s Milt - to be sure its not the most peaceful place on the planet, the Republic of Ingushetia, which is very small is less than 20 years old

Ramzan Kadyrov, the President of Chechnya issued a statement today saying he was offended because he didn't make Obama's bad people list over Crimea

Ossetians asked to join Russia over 200 years ago and did. South Ossetians asked for and got Russian passports as did the Abkhaz in recent times.

    Crimea is more serious though.

To call a spade a spade the West made a clumsy and unrealistic attempt to grab Ukraine, Putin outsmarted them, the West doubled down, even more clumsily and the result is civil war in Ukraine.

Crimea being absolutely strategic to Russia has been secured as will any other parts of Ukraine necessary to secure and hold it .

This is a high stakes game now and the danger is America rather than face another humiliation will do something stupid even more stupid than the actions they have taken already......
