Ye Olde Friday Night Free For All

Time to hoist the tankards and pour the ale.
Tis Friday, and another week has been consigned to the history books.

Next week, read the Labour Party News Releases to see just how we are supposed to remember it. They've already declared the Main Stream Media have turned on them. Can't be too long before a hefty donation from Owen Glenn funds the Labour Party Historical Information Bureau. Or aren't those love birds talking any more?

Chris Trotter is still plugging for Helen Clark to be rolled by Goff. It's embarrassing watching the die hard old communist try to influence democratic process. Chris, you can't roll leaders of the Workers Party. You just put up their Union Fees and blockade the door to the beehive.

I enjoyed his "Helen Clark has brains but no heart" theory. Ouch. With comrades like these, who needs an axe in the back of a hotel room? But his suggestion that the Labour party have to show empathy to suffering Kiwis only creates a scene like something I'd expect from a Mel Brookes film. Given the Labour Party created the pain in the first place (only nine years in power, shoot, we've had no time to accomplish anything) it's a bit like slapping some poor unfortunate voter across the face and saying "ouch, that must have hurt". [Slap] Oh, I feel your pain. [Slap] You poor sod. Having some chewing gum tax relief. [Slap] Hah hah, just joking! [Slap] Voter, why are you crying?

Well, it's an election year. Now that Cunliffe has fired an entire Health Board, expect a lot more jobs to be on the line. He's the man in charge. He's taking full responsibility. He's firing the lot of them. Doctor late in the morning. Fired. Nurse didn't change the saline fast enough. Fired. Press officer reporting bad things. Fired.

Sounds like the revolution has already started.

  1. Evening everyone.
    I'm in Tauranga.
    But never mind me.
    I think we need Poneke.
    He has worked for government.
So he might have ideas on dealing with ministers.
It's warm, humid and sunny in the Mount tonight.
I'm on lindauer with fish and chips/.

  2. Why has Trotter turned on his master? This has been the most surprising component of labour's headlong rush to electoral meltdown for me. They have been so disciplined for a very long time. And now the cockups are coming so fast it is becoming difficult to keep up.

  3. Evening all,

This week is the beginning of the end for the girls own club that has been this labour led government.

Annette King facillitated a 50mill contract to her husbands business partner and has had the facts silenced.

I really think this is bigger than we all think!

Cloudy Bay Sav, and Kopi on a mild Welly evening.

  4. Evening all.
Watch for more rats deserting the sinking ship, babbling state secrets in an attempt to save their sorry skins.
Yet I'm willing to bet that any high-profile appartchik who loses his/her job after the elections will be comfortably ensconced in another position within a couple of months.

  5. Evening all. I have some very traditional fish and chips to consume for my dinner tonight.

Deep fried fodder. And I'm not speaking of Labour MPs.

  6. Evening from North Canterbury.

It's nicer than Auckland, but there's nobody here to talk to except for Pukekoes.

First week of uni not too bad. Second week not looking dull either, for the party of Sir Roger Douglas.

  7. Interesting popularity vote - I don't think HC got a mention...

LONDON - He's a multi-millionaire maverick entrepreneur, part-time daredevil and now Britain's Richard Branson has beaten Jesus Christ in a survey to find the top role model for children.

The Virgin Group boss has been placed second in a poll of Britons asked who their children should look up to. Jesus came in third and a family member topped the list.

Teachers, placed fourth, were more popular than former South African president and freedom fighter Nelson Mandela who came in fifth in the survey carried out by Opinium Research.

  8. It's obvious many people would look up to Branson. It's the altitude he flys at.

  9. Yes Branson is seen as a God.
Now BB did you make it to Auckland last week.
    I lost your contact details.
    Please email me.

Good to see you are enjoying Canterbury, Rick.
I was supposed to get confirmation of a box in Ponsonby to live in but the owners have been away, apparantly.
I'm beginning to think about rural Rodney again.

I'm sure we all agree country life is better.

  11. Helen Clark and Mike Williams are taking a stroll when they come upon a little girl carrying a basket with a blanket over it. Curious, Clark asks the girl, "What's in the basket?"

"New baby kittens," she replies, and she opens the basket to show her. "How nice," says Clark. "What kind are they?"

The little girl says, "that one is Labour and the other is Greens" and
Clark smiles, pats the little girl on the head and continues on.

Three weeks later, Clark is taking another stroll, this time with Jeanette Fitzsimons. They see the little girl again with the same basket.

Clark says, "Watch this, Jeanette -- it's really cute."

They approach the little girl. Clark greets her and asks how the kittens are doing, and she says, "Fine."

Then, smirking, she nudges Jeanette with her elbow and asks the little girl, "And can you tell us what kind of kittens they are?"

    She replies, "National and Act".
Aghast, Clark says, "But three weeks ago you said they were Labour and Greens!"

"I know," she says. "But now their eyes are open."

  12. Country life can go to blazes. I'm moving to Christchurch where there's some action.

I want to go see if the West Coast is still there. We got anybody over there or do I just buy an ice cream, turn around, come home?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Heaps of people over west coast way. Probably far more Kiwis than you'll find in Christchurch.

Just head over the west coast, then head a bit further west until you come to Australia :-)

  14. Not with the combined holyness of the NZ Conservative bloggers would my car walk on water.

Looks like a rainy day. Might just do it. Touch base with my Island. Perhaps increase the readership-base for Silent Running out there.

Blog where no man has blogged before.

  15. Until the Pukekoes talk back, blog tall and blog proud. Where there is a bitstream, there are surfers.

The rural vote used to mean something in this country. Make sure they remember their duty. A missionary blogger...

  16. Well, night folks. I'm off to watch some mindless DVD featuring Mila J. dealing to mindless zombies in yet another installment of "Resident Evil".

This has nothing to do with NZ Labour and their voter base, right?

  17. Looks like Friday is fish day. Pan fried turbot fillet in my case.

I recall Rodney Hide going to speak to a Workingman's Club on the Coast before the last election.

The club host introduced him with-- "Thissis Rodney Hide from Act. He's going to tell us how to get rid of this fugg'ngummint"

  19. Good morning everyone.
    Soaking wet in tauranga.
About to head home after interviewing my linux man.
i fell asleep after my terakihi, snapper and chips.
    And yes, in newspaper too.
but managed to polish off the bottle of lindauer.

Enjoy the west coast Rick. I quite liked pancake rocks. In fact, I've just had pancakes for breakkfast.

About to set off for the big bad city in a few mins.
