Snail in the machine

I had a feeling that not keeping the washing machine lid closed was a bad thing. Today my inability to keep the lid closed created pulverised snail over white sheets.

Looks like a quick wash to take advantage of the warm sun before dinner time has backfired.

I am officially grossed out right now and need a gin.

  9. D4J, have you been using snail bait? I hear beer is good too, but it just seems a bit of a waste to me.

I've just planted out a whole lot of baby basil plants, so if the snails get them, I'll be really unhappy!

Hmmm, maybe I should go out and put a ring of snail bait around them ...

  10. Lucyna, I used dried out egg shells over night,I didn't have any snail bait . It has seemed to work as my basil plants look ok this morning .

Cheers and all the best for 2008 .

  12. The chef put Baisl in the pesto

    * 2 cups fresh basil leaves, packed
    * 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan-Reggiano or Romano cheese
    * 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
    * 1/3 cup pine nuts or walnuts
    * 3 medium sized garlic cloves, minced
    * Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Please do not mix ingredients in washing machine and it's a lovely dip for cooked snails :-)

  13. Lucyna and D4J - A ring of sand works well - snails and slugs do not seem to like crossing it.
