Over 100 die in Mumbai chaos

Again Mumbai is targeted. Since 2002 there have been six terrorist attacks in the city.
Why attack Mumbai though?
In addition to any idiosyncratic and perennially malleable claims made by the gunmen ("Deccan Mujahideen"), Mumbai is the economic centre of India, its New York, which is a strong lure; perhaps it is to stymie ongoing peace negotiations (Re: Kashmir) with neighbouring Islamic state Pakistan; and maybe also to destabilise India as a cohesive modern democratic state by inciting internal rifts.

The persistently luminous Barrack Obama released these comments...,

The United States must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world to root out and destroy terrorist networks. We stand with the people of India, whose democracy will prove far more resilient than the hateful ideology that led to these attacks.”

Coincidentally, this Sunday morning National Radio's Chris Laidlaw hosts a feature on Pakistan and its fractured ominous situation.

  1. Tagged as Islam ? At this early stage when news is only just filtering out, you could be right but it seems a little presumptuous especially in the wake of the shutting down of a major Hindu terrorist network, whose actions the BJP consistently blamed on India's muslims. I'm not saying you might not in the end be right but it seems too early to make that kind of judgment.

  2. Every report I've read so far (including some Indian ones) claims the gunmen are islamists.

  3. "A militant holed up inside Mumbai’s Oberoi Hotel told India TV on Thursday that seven attackers were holding hostages inside the luxury establisment.

“There are seven of us inside hotel Oberoi,” the man identified as Sahadullah told India TV.

“We want all Mujahideens held in India released and only after that we will release the people.”

Seems plain enough--it's obviously a cover for the Presbyterian Action Front.

  7. Heard they took over the HQ of a Jewish group too.

Definitely KG, that Presbyterian Action Front!

On a side note, it looks like fugley is yearning to give Islamic terrorism another chance, or am i being presumptuous.

I have noticed its comments have been removed in the past too, does it like typing its abuse and having it deleted or is it just stupid.
