Friday Night Free For All

Friday again. The week has several things to talk about: the UK Election, an upsurge of vampires, mining on conservation land, taxes, traders and warriors, John Key being criticised (unfairly) for attending the funerals of the NZDF airmen, and many other newsworthy stories.

All became rather abstract and unimportant for me, as I sat around waiting for my sister to come through major surgery. She has, and is doing well but the journey she is on with this illness is not a short trip. I hope there are plenty more opportunities to stop and smell the roses.

Hope your week was good, although that is a relative term. Freedom is a funny thing. Sometimes the only freedom you have is to decide how you are going to feel about something.

Feel free to drop by and say hello.

  3. Evening all.
Been all day in the big bad city.
Press conference in the morning, then I went to that pub in Pt Chev.
Phil U turned up briefly but saw no-one else I knew.
Looks like an autumn election for me.
The UKIP effect has cost cameron the majority.
He should not have abandoned his cast iron pledge to have a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
Cameron needs to kiss and make up with the right and offer a clearer difference with Lib-Lab if he is to survive.

  4. Evening all, hope everyone is having a better week than Gordon Brown - not hard I bet!

  5. It might turn out all right for him. We haven't seen his expense claims yet.

... yep, & then you gotta keep the feelings to yourself ... bugger.

  7. Hi everyone!

This week's obsession is classical writing and writing curriculums in general.

That upsurge of vampire wannabeism is deeply disturbing. I could hardly bear to read the Dom Post's articles on it over the last couple of days.

  8. But on the brighter side ... good evening all, end of the week, tomorrow is meant to be nice & sunny ... car is broke so have to try & fix it ... so probably large part of weekend is taken. Being able to do stuff is often a two edged thingamy, means you tend to do when it would be sensible not to ... but you do anyway ... frugality or something.
    I just dunno.

  9. Evening all.

My beer is in the freezer (emergency measures to get it to the right temperature).

I hope your car responds well to your ministrations Mojo. I have no idea about how my car works, although they are getting so computerised, it's amazing they work at all. (Insert joke about Windows OS running your car).

  10. Looks like Gordon Brown might put in a claim for a new government.

I'm not sure he's going to get away with it though. He better keep the receipt, it's probably only got a 30 day warranty.

  11. Evening all.
I'm trying to brake a fluid mechanics lab that's worth 15% of my course mark.

Will check in again later :)

  12. Gidday all. Not much happening here. Still looking for work. It seems like the weather is taking a turn for the colder; not so much today but a couple of nights ago I had the heater on.

  13. freezing beer seems a bit much.
I think a nice warm ale might be called for but I will probably settle for a glass of red wine.
I still keep looking at BBC online for fresh results.
I think if the Lib Dems go for Brown then they will suffer for it at the next election, which will happen soon.
It looks hard for anyone to get a majority.
Cameron will have to mend fences with the right if he hopes to win next time.
It seems the UKIP effect might have cost him a majority.
But he should not have abandonned his cast iron guarantee over the Lisbon treaty.
While Cameron can be pleased he helped rebuild the Tories, he really has blown it by not delivering a majority when Gordon Brown and ZanuLiarbore have been in power for so long and done so many bad things.

I have just blogged on the issue.
I guess i will have to return to NZ politics now, but not much seems to be happening.

  16. Roger,

    Well, it's an interesting story.

I've easily got about 20 different blog posts that I haven't written due to lack of time that I'd actually like to write about.

This one doesn't even make it onto that list.

Is there something specific you would like to know as to our opinion on the story?

  17. Roger, DPF has a thread on it over on Kiwiblog, with some very good commentary by Christians, particularly, Scott and Kris.

  18. Yawn. Doesn't seem to be much of a story to me. Some-one who thinks homosexuality is a gender disorder gets a massage from a male who happens to be a rent boy.

Well, he's been accused of bias because he is religious, so this is great news for the gay lobby, who have announced him gay.

This means whatever he says in his medical professional opinion is not tainted by bias, because surely, getting a full on massage cancels his religious convictions, leaving only the medical opinion to consider?

Like Lucia, I don't see much in this story worth spending time over.
