The Chinese ambassador reckons the New Zealand Government (in reality the long suffering taxpayer) should pay extra to the families of the Chinese killed in last months earthquake.
The notable difference is of course China's obnoxious "one child policy" which means that the parents of the dead students have lost everything. I grieve for them.
But I ask this, every day in China there must be parents who loose their one child, through accident, disease etc - what provisions does the Chinese Government make for those people? Hmmm.
Grief knows no international borders - we all want to do everything we can to alleviate the pain of the bereaved but certainly not on a racial or nationality basis.
"There is a very notable difference in terms of the family situation between the Chinese family members and other foreign family members," he said.
"You can expect how lonely, how desperate they are, not only from losing loved ones, but losing almost entirely their source of economic assistance after retirement."

This is what China will behave like when it is the world's premiere power, I believe - demanding special treatment for its citizens in other countries. Any nation foolish enough to reject its demands will be punished with subtle economic impediments.
ReplyDeleteSo let's get this straight. China institutes a "no-siblings" law, murders the children of parents who fail to comply by forcing them into abortion and then wants New Zealand to compensate for their murderous policies?
ReplyDeleteHow much you wanna bet New Zealand's response will be diplomatic. >:(
Given gender preference I guess they will want more for their Sons Than Their Daughters.

What amazing cheek. It really is gob-smackingly breath-taking on how they fail to take responsibility for their policies.

Think of the pension!!!
I think the NZ Government should pay additional compensation. They should donate an extra $1,000 per Chinese student into a NGO fund that specifically harasses China over their one child policy.
Will the Chinese be making the same demands of Japan?
ReplyDeleteAnd can't they find the money from their 'defence' and space exploration budgets?
It's a valid question, it's the Chinese govt that forces them to only have 1 child so why don't they do something.
