Why does big news always strike when I'm half asleep? 9/11 was like that. Waking up to the news of planes flying into the twin towers was a little surreal. Quite possibly the news of Princess Diana's death was also delivered as a news item on my radio to wake me up. Likewise, this morning, Michael Jackson dying of a heart attack somehow penetrated the fog of sleep as I dozed in the morning due to being sick enough not to want to get out of bed.
I'm a bit better now, but am still coughing (which is the most annoying part of what I've got), and every once in a while need to go and have a lie down. While I'm eating or drinking, I'm not coughing, so right now while I type this out, I'm munching pieces of apple that really ought to be far crunchier than they are now.
When I was living in Sydney, the apple prices were about $10/kilo. But, for that cost, it was very easy to get crunchy apples. Not apples are are almost past their use-by date which seems to be the common apple sold in our local supermarket. So, I end up throwing out quite a few apples in trying to get crunchy ones and lo and behold, most likely spend about the same that I spent in Sydney with not the same result.
So, it's Friday again, and it's chat time, and it's occurred that I typically get really sick on Fridays. My most memorable sickness have all started on this day of the Fri. Not sure what that means, or if it means anything at all, or if Friday is just a day that more notice is taken of illness since it's the day before the weekend.
Some one stop me already, I think I'm just going keep typing until I need to lie down again!

Good evening Lucia Maria.
ReplyDeleteHoney in hot water and Panadeine should fix the cough.
Isn't a warmer day much nicer? I can stand the rain if it means higher temperatures.
Two mad nights at work--we'll see what tonight brings...
Hi KG!
ReplyDeleteWould you believe that we have little honey due to the kitten running onto the kitchen bench this morning and knocking it over .. no one noticed until I was ok enough to tidy up so the kids could have lunch. Basically, most of a tub of honey spilt. But we still have a bit left.
What's Panadeine? Is that something you get from the chemist?
I've just inhaled a whole lot of onion juice and while it's made me sneeze and made my eyes run, I've stopped coughing for a little bit. Not sure if I want to use that as a remedy, though. :)
Panadeine is paracetamol with a little codeine. Your local pharmacy will certainly stock it. The stuff also reduces fevers and is pretty safe.
ReplyDeleteThanks, KG.
ReplyDeleteI normally don't take medication when I'm sick, but lately I've succumbed to painkillers for headaches, just through plain needing to function during the day with home-schooling.
If I'm still coughing tomorrow, I'll get some.
Good. :-) There comes a time when medication is the lesser of two evils, non?
ReplyDeleteEvening all. Just clocking in. Speaking of medicine, hope our Prime Minister, the honourable Mr Key doesn't mind taking a dose of his own medicine with my latest post.
ReplyDeleteIs it really that hard to understand the intent? I think he hangs around with Sue Bradford too much, and is beginning to think it's a great idea to criminalize parents over a smack (as distinct from beating a child to death with a large piece of wood).
I really don't know what's up with Key. With him in charge I fail to see the difference between National and Labour. Both want to take our money and use it to promote their own agendas, which are almost identical. The only real difference seems to be that Labour is more likely to subsidise bludgers and National is more likely to subsidise some pet industry - at the moment it seems to be the building industry, in the past it was agriculture.
ReplyDeleteBoth want to control our lives just as much as each other. Both increase government spending every year. Both pander to the Greens and do their best to ignore Act, even when in coalition with them.
Here comes the new boss, same as the old boss...
That cough struck me last week & it's still hanging on. Lemon & honey is good but it might need cough mixture too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's the swine flu? It's currently thought of as contagious but typically mild - it's the possibility of mutation they worry about. Although, as people get it and recover, we have at least build some base resistance.
ReplyDeleteLemon and Honey. Orange and Barley. Tango and Cash.
Huh, currently the strain of standard flu is worse than that which originated from pigs.
ReplyDelete1 million people have in the US they estimate - which sounds big until you realise that 80 million get the ordinary flu every season.
Nice work on the political spectrum map. I suppose I'll have to take the test eventually.
ReplyDeleteDo I need to study?
