Infamy

There are great tales of heroism at sea, of captains going down with their ship after ensuring all that could be done has been done.

But I guess this is not one of those stories: 'Get onboard, for f--k's sake!'

  1. I'm sure Schettino is even now channeling Kenneth Williams as Julias Caesar:

"Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it infamy!"

  2. If "gross dereliction of duty" is still a crime in these enlightened times, that Captain is doomed.

He could argue that concepts like honour, risk, self-sacrifice and caring for others are not in the job description, but they'll still get him on the allowed virtues of leadership and responsibility.
