U.S Lobby Group Wants Gay TV Marriage

Fictional gay TV couple that ACLU is lobbying
 to get "married"
This is getting ridiculous now.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a lobby group whose stated mission is "to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States." (Thanks WIKI).

And what do they want today? They are pushing for a gay fictional couple from the TV series Modern Family to get married because they think it will bring more acceptance of gay marriage. So they've started an online petition in the hopes that they can pressure the writers of the show to make it happen. In their own words -

"For many, Mitch and Cam are the gay couple with whom they interact with the most," the ACLU noted. "Inviting 13 million people to Mitch and Cam’s wedding will only bring more people into the push for marriage equality."
They and other homosexual advocacy groups bemoan the cancelling of TV shows that feature gay people so that there is a lack of "diversity" on screen. According to a GLAAD spokesman -

"Following a season with the highest recorded number of LGBT characters, these cancellations mean networks have to make a concerted effort to ensure the 2013-2014 season truly reflects the diversity of their audience. With inclusive programs like Modern Family and Glee continuing to lead the ratings and collect praise from critics, it's in a network's best interest."
How "diverse" does TV have to be when only a purported  3% of the country is homosexual? Do we/they have to have this pushed in our faces? And it's not just TV: two gay characters in the popular Archie comic book recently got married. Ditto in Marvel's X-Men, and DC's Batwoman.

So, is it really the "wedding America wants to see" as they proclaim in their poster? I have my doubts.

  2. Interesting aside, the ACLU has deep Marxist roots. The original founder saw which way the organization was headed and attempted to stop it, to no avail. While the ACLU doesn't advertise their political leanings, it has a direct bearing on which projects they pursue and which they leave alone.

  3. Even more interesting aside - William Stout needs to buy a clue.

Here are some of the cases brought by the Marxist ACLU.

AUSTIN, TX – The American Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU of Texas filed a friend-of-the-court brief today with the U.S. Supreme Court supporting the right of a prisoner in Texas to seek monetary damages from the state under the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000 (RLUIPA) after he was denied access to a prison chapel for religious purposes. The name of the case is Sossamon v. Texas.

The ACLU works to protect public school students’ religious freedom by curbing the practice of school-sponsored religion and ensuring that students may freely express and exercise their faith. We also defend students' free speech rights in the public schools and students' rights to pray in the schools. Additionally, whenever a teacher allows children to choose their own topics for an assignment (such as which book to read or which topic to study for a presentation), students may choose religious themes and the ACLU has protected their right to do so.

PROVIDENCE, RI - The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island today announced the favorable settlement of its lawsuit on behalf of a Christian prisoner who has been barred since 2003 from preaching during Christian religious services at the state prison.

Wesley Spratt, an inmate at the Adult Correctional Institution (ACI), believes God called on him to preach Christianity to other prisoners at the ACI. Spratt preached during Christian services for seven years before he was unilaterally stopped from doing so based on vague and generalized "security" concerns. A federal district judge initially upheld the ban, but in April the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit reversed that ruling and ordered a trial on the merits of the case. Today's settlement ends the case.

NATCHITOCHES, LA -- Today the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana filed a lawsuit on behalf of a lone protestor who was denied his free expression rights by the city of Natchitoches. Edwin Crayton, a devout Christian, sought to stand in front of Wal-Mart in Natchitoches with a sign protesting the corporation’s alleged position on gay marriage.

"Our government violates the principles in the First Amendment when it puts an overbroad permit scheme in place to restrain free speech in a public place," said Joe Cook, Executive Director of the ACLU of Louisiana. "The sweep of the ordinance is so wide that it could encompass a chance meeting on the street corner by two strangers."

Yes, how terribly Marxist of them.

The ACLU has an excellent record defending the Civil Liberties of all; sometimes that means they are arguing against a xtian perspective, at other times they are supporting the xtian.

But Bill, don't ever let your prejudices get in the way of reality.
