Who really is running in Mt Albert?

MacDoctor said it, this Mt Albert bye-election thingy is a bore.

Sure political journos and political junkies are in their element but for the rest of us life goes on - ho hum.

This disinterest probably holds true, even in Mt Albert, which is ground zero for this bye-election of course, and it is certainly true for the rest of us.

Anyway given the very odd nature of our electoral system, there is every possibility that the electors of Mt Albert and the rest of the country besides are not aware who the candidates for this election really are. It is not necessarily the name on the ballot who will be the new face around Parliament.

So as a public service to the voters of Mt Albert I have provided the starting line-up, thus far announced, for the race in Mt Albert.

If Mellisa Lee is the chosen one then it will be dentist Cam Calder who will be the newest MP in Parliament .

Success for John Boscowen in Mt Albert will see Dunedin Lawyer Hilary Calvert enter parliament.

If the good voters of Mt Albert give Russel Norman the nod then David Clendon,
a former resource management lecturer will be the new boy in the debating chamber.

But if the voters of Mt Albert tick David Shearers's box it will be he, and none other who enters the hallowed halls of Parliament.
