I have to admit, this latest pronouncement from Al Gore about Man-Made Global Warming might be right on the money. Given he charges up to $175,000 per speaking engagement, I really mean that.
The other day, in a speech given in Oxford before the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment, the former American vice president, Nobel Peace Prize recipient and Oscar winner likened the battle against Climate Change (aka Man-Made Global Warming) to the fight decades ago against the Nazis.
He's probably right. I think we have to give credit where credit is due, even if he is an environmental fascist.

Part II: 26 dollars - a reasonable offer

"environmental fascist."
ReplyDeleteWhy do you say that??
He is open the people mind about the climate changes. He´s given his knowledges to the world.
His contribute is very important
It is absurd to call him "environmental fascist"...
Hi Francisco. Thank you very much for your question. It is a nice change over being attacked up front.
ReplyDeleteOf course, you might wish to debate my point after I explain :-)
Firstly, it might be absurd to call him an environmental fascist. Given the strict definition of fascism, I could be convinced either way.
However, my point is that Al Gore likened the debate over Man-Made Global Warming to "fighting the Nazis in WWII."
Which effectively means he is calling anyone who challenges him effectively as evil as the Nazis. He has declared a necessary war.
I take exception to that assertion. I take exception to being likened to a Nazi. Such rhetoric belongs on the blogs, not in the mouth of a Nobel prize winning ex-Vice President with an Oscar.
So I merely implied the same thing back to Al Gore, using his own rhetoric.
And as you have noted, perhaps his statement was absurd.
If he wants to change hearts and minds, declaring any skeptic a Nazi is not the way to do it.
(PS: Whilst I'm skeptical about AGW, I'm not adverse to promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship. That part of the debate is just common sense.
However, I reject the so-called solutions for reducing our pollution, for declaring CO2 a pollution and especially reject the Kyoto tax scheme.)

No. Gore himself has very, very little knowledge about climate change--which is why he refuses to debate the subject publicly. He has taken a politicised (IPCC) report which uses dubious statistics and deeply flawed computer models and used those to promote a business which has made him a millionaire many times over.
A British court found that his "An Inconvenient Truth" movie to be riddled with inaccuracies and lies and Gore has never disputed that.
The man is a charlatan, a liar and an opportunist and you've been fooled, Francisco.
He's also a thief. It'll be a great day for science and humanity when that POS is dead.

ReplyDeleteI can´t agree with you.
Bill Clinton says in his book, that Gore contribute a lot for the climate changes and envorinment.
And it´s true.
He deserve the Nobel
Hi Francisco. I never said he doesn't contribute a lot to AGW. His household power bills attest to that :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat I said was that Al Gore characterizing this as a fight against Nazis is over the top. Then again, he did get a peace prize. Perhaps he needs to hand it back if the war isn't over?
Francisco, quoting Bill Clinton is to regard the word of a serial adulterer and liar as having some authority.
ReplyDeleteNo thanks.
And since when was Clinton an authority on 'climate change'?
KG
ReplyDeleteSince he has environmental solutions
I read his book.
And he cooperates with many Non Governmental Organisations on the helpful for the Climate changes
(I don´t if Helpful is correct. My english is not perfect, sorry)
"Since he has environmental solutions"
ReplyDeleteDubious "solutions" to non-existent problems. Solutions which will cripple Western economies and raise the tax burden on ordinary workers. Solutions to a so-called problem that the global warming fanatics now claim will not evidence itself until around 2020, since the globe has not been warming for the past ten years. How convenient for them! What happened to those wonderful computer models, eh? They were good enough to "prove" anthropogenic global warming was actually happening according to the IPCC, weren't they?
You've been fooled, Francisco.
I hope not
ReplyDeleteBill Clinton was a good President.
And Al Gore a fabolous vice-president.
He had many environmental solutions
I give up.
ReplyDeleteThere's a degree of wilful stupidity that's impossible to argue with.
