Friday night free for all

It's the end of the school holidays.

* Sigh *

Oh well, I'll enjoy doing all the school work, when we get back into it on Monday.

On the plus side, I've moved a number of plants around (this is equivalent to moving the furniture around), and now I'm beginning to have an idea of how I want the garden to be.

Now, if I can just get the neighbours to top their giant Magnolia that is blocking my potential vegetable garden's sun ...

  1. I broke a tooth today :(
And the dentist hasn't got a free spot until Thursday next week....oh well...

Did anyone see the thing about the meteor lighting up the sky over America?

  2. Fletch, phone the dentist every morning, just in case they've had a cancellation and a spot opens up.

Didn't hear about the meteor. Have to have a look.

  3. Fletch, your link doesn't work!

  4. Good evening from a very chilly spot, forecasting zero degs. tonight!!
By the way, I really enjoyed the Karol movie, a great history lesson :)

  5. Hi Gecko,

That's pretty cold. We're just forecast to have a min of three degrees.

I'm really hoping the frost holds off for a month or so, as I've just moved some marigolds around that had self seeded, and amazingly, I've made it look like there are heaps more of them.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Karol. My favourite part of the movie was when he was sitting there crying during his election as Pope. And the most horrible was the murder of the Jewish girl playing the violin.

  6. Lucia Maria, this is about our third frost so far, and tonight will be the coldest. I do hope the locals decide to stay tucked up at home tonight, last night was not what you'd call high quality, or very bright!!
What a remarkable man, to go through so much, and come away as he did is admirable. I agree with you over the murder of the girl playing the violin, so senseless.

  7. Bummer about the dentist.

There was a young dentist named Sloan
    who catered to women alone.
    In an act of depravity,
    he filled the wrong cavity,
and said, "My, how my business has grown!"

Saw the Meteor on Yahoo this morning. Seems to have gone unnoticed for most of the world... lost in a cloud of ash.

  8. You could try the local veterinarian. They seem to have more compassion and are less up themselves than dentists.

    Oh yeah. Evening All!

  9. Evenmeing all.

I know a fellow who became a vet. Apparently he's only allowed to work on humans if it's an emergency.

That didn't stop him diagnosing his own broken arm though :)

  10. Ozy, just read about your fortune.

$7B? What do you do with all that money?

  11. Evening all.

There was snow on the Kakanui Mountains this morning, it had melted by this afternoon and it's not cold enough for a fire, yet.

But the sky is clear so we may be in for a frost too.

  13. Well I was a little surprised myself at such a high placing. How on earth did I pass the tooth fairy who came in a 3.9 bill???

Other fictional characters that must have come close

Roy of the Rovers - football players make a killing today.

Xena Warrior Princess - all that bling must add up.

Popeye - maybe he has all the looks and muscles but no money.

  14. Heh, speaking of the tooth fairy...

Did you hear about the guy who slept with his head under the pillow and woke up with a mouthful of change?

    :)

  15. Yes, I did hear about that guy. He lives in the White House.

    Boom boom.

  16. Lucia

I'm shocked. Leave the Magnolia alone :-0 Can't your vege garden and the glorious magnolia just....get along?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Nah, get them to prune it Lucyna--they grow like weeds anyway. ;)

  18. Mr Tips,

That glorious Magnolia is probably about 10m tall right now, and growing. It's blocks our northern aspect, which translates into a heck of a lot of sun.

The neighbour will eventually trim it. I almost got it topped a few weeks back, but the landscaping guys that were over to do tree trimming "ran out of time". I think they were worried about killing it. Those things are almost indestructible.

I do like magnolias, I have several planted in my garden. They're just not in a place as to cause annoyance.

  19. Sorry everyone about not being too involved last night, my flu has come back.
