Fletch Is This Noah's Ark?

A team of archaeologists held a press conference three days ago to announce that they had found Noah's Ark on Mount Ararat in Turkey. According to them, the wood samples have been dated to 4,800 years ago.

A milestone was marked by one of the team members, Panda Lee, who went for a pioneer climb to witness the existence of a wood structure high above an altitude of 4,000m. He also surveyed the landscape, preparing for further search. Panda Lee said, “In October 2008, I climbed the mountain with the Turkish team. At an elevation of more than 4,000 metres, I saw a structure built with plank-like timber. Each plank was about 8 inches wide. I could see tenons, proof of ancient construction predating the use of metal nails. We walked about 100 metres to another site. I could see broken wood fragments embedded in a glacier, and some 20 metres long. I surveyed the landscape and found that the wooden structure was permanently covered by ice and volcanic rocks. Prior to my expedition, the Turkish team had excavated the site to expose the structure.”

So far, the team have found and explored seven spaces. See the site for more info.

How many Noah's Arks is this now? Alomost as many as the shards of the "one true cross".

What? Are you suggesting Noah had a brother? If it happens to turn out to be the ark, it would confirm an idea I have long suspected: The termites were unloaded first.

I quite like the idea of a fleet of Arks.

God: "Noah, go forth and gather two of everything and place them on the ark..."

Noah: "Yes oh Lord. I have gathered two gay men, two lesbians, two celibates, two barren ladies, two eunuchs..."

God: "Noah, we have to talk..."

And, surprise surprise, this one's a fake too.

It appears scam artists even operate in the world of science and history.

I'm beginning to think the tree ring data that "proves" global warming might have been selectively manipulated by the Chinese or East Anglians.

No, don’t’ tell me - they dug-up a unicorn skeleton as well, right?

What about Mr Noah himself?

According to the same book, these fools are going-by, Noah lived to 950years – so why not add a couple of zero’s and simply say Noah and the crew now operate a small cafĂ© from the wreck-site & it’s well worth the climb for a best Cappuccino in all of Euro-Asia?

Worth a giggle and little more.

Have a good-one.

Paul.

A giggle? Is this atheist humour?

Christopher, I don't know whether it is the real deal or not, but your link makes no difference to my opinion whatsoever. These people found the structures at around 4000 Metres - they had to spend a day or so at a base camp of 2,800 Metres to acclimatize before ascending, and the story at your link reckons some guys with a truck rocked up and placed the wood there? Working in very thin oxygen? To create a hoax for these scientists to find?

Oh, come on. Get real. That's a hell of a lot of work at very high altitudes (see how the people in the video are struggling to breathe) and for what reason?

As I said, I don't know whether this is the real deal, but the story in your link smacks of being an invention by a sceptic website (or perhaps they have been conned themselves).

Saw this one a few days ago.

Seems like this one is going to need a bit more work before anyone can say either way.

I certainly believe there's a fair chance the Ark is still up there, but if it is, it will eventually be as undeniable as the existence of London.

If it's there, it's been there 5,000 years so it's not like there's a great hurry.
