And Tumeke have launched a blog ranking list, to ensure they gat lots of hits as bloggers check their rankings.
NZ Conservative comes in at number 22. I feel very much like Helen Clark must feel, sitting in the lower half of the OECD, and yet looking around and saying "22. Hmm, that doesn't seem so bad." :-)
If I can get my psychiatrist to read this, then at least I can't be accused of talking to myself. I'm just preparing for my weekly session.
Mind you, it's an imaginary psychiatrist. I was initially worried about this delusion, but he told me it was quite normal, and admired my ability to access his skills and avoid having to pay his bill (the fool didn't believe I'd believe that I had to pay an imaginary bill with real money.)
Sometimes, I think my psychiatrist is a little naive.
And Sir Edmund Hillary is no longer with us. A day for New Zealanders to celebrate his life and achievements - I'm not going to be sad about this - he had a good innings and a great life, and did much good.
And I reckon Edmonds cookbook sales could go through the roof.
A pikelet in memory of Sir Edmund - it's the least we could all do.
Not sure, but our stats have been higher than normal the last few days too. Maybe an army of journalists are looking to the blogs for tomorrows stories?
Evening. Hell, loosenations again Zen? Too much solitude does that to a person ... it used to be that if 'you smoked van hartog, you needed nothing else.' But now, with the effects of the anti smoking lobby, probably a bit of prozac, and a bit of risperidone, and a bit of scotch to add some volatility to the mix. I'm pleased to see you're beginning the year as you intend it to continue. Mind you, our 'elite sports people' indulge in considerable self talk, talking themselves up even in the face of ongoing 'average to below' performance which suggests the need for a similar elixir ... so I guess you're in 'good' company.

MK: I try very hard to be a nice, reasonable person, but some on the left, including their leaders, are being particularly antagonistic this week. I think it quite reasonable you point that out.
Indeed, under the circumstances, I admire your restraint.
"If you prick me, do I not bleed?"
Oswald: Transformers, more than meets the eye, you know.
Mojo: Happy New Year. Thanks for the kind thoughts and free assessment. Do you do this kind of thing for a living? You seem very capable in this area.
I'm picturing myself as an elite blogger...in training for the last 2 years. Managed to get team sponsorship on Sir Humphreys and we did all right. We were contenders. We coulda hadda shot at the title...
...and suddenly the season was over and after a bit of a shuffle, switching codes from union to league, or league to EFA. I'm on the NZC team and the game plan has changed.
But the EFA don't want us. We are going to have to run a rebel code, breakaway and play outside the square.
And the training has continued.
We were going to Beijing, but they banned all internet events. So were are looking at an all New Zealand season championship.
And I'm going to give it all I got.
It's not the medal. It's not the sponsorship potential. It's the game. The challenge.
It's the internet. The tide is changing. Surf's up.
"Sir Edmund climbed to great heights in his 88 years." Yep. 'Service industries,' Zen ... so you are probably close ... but now, again, a student in the study of people/behaviour. In this vein, I must say, I am somewhat curious that both you and Lucyna claim expertise/interest(?) in the martial arts ... it always struck me that you were avowedly of the belief that 'the word was mightier than a bit of 'biffo.'' No?
Most places teach martial arts as a sport, some as an art. Therein lies the difference.
The discipline and mastery over self are appealing to me.
Words may be mighty, but some people don't listen very well. Particularly ones that are trying to kick your head in. It's been useful having both options.

Well, what a week. It seems politics never sleeps. The Election Year is upon us, and Labour have decided to make us endure every day from January 1st.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope they call an early election.

Sorry, am I interrupting?
ReplyDeleteFox have a very good story on Sir Ed.
ReplyDeleteMind, it's written by AP.

Arrg, voices in my head...
ReplyDeleteOh, we have visitors. Cancel that.
Hello.
Cup o' tea?
Thanks but no.
ReplyDeleteHm, any idea why my stats jumped 4 days ago? It's almost as though a bunch of people suddenly decided to read me every day.
Not sure, but our stats have been higher than normal the last few days too. Maybe an army of journalists are looking to the blogs for tomorrows stories?
ReplyDeleteAre we allowed to say, down with the left, and down with Kommissar Klark on this FNFFA?
ReplyDeleteMy youngest is watching 'Transformers' the movie.
ReplyDeleteAgainst all odds- I'm actually enjoying it!
Evening.

A twitch in the index finger!

How embarrasing, that is the only recipe I have used from good ol 'Sure to Rise'. You picked it Zen, but am I not the only one?
Now there's an interesting thought from Mojo.

Let's catch a wave, dudes.
Note to self: Don't post everything I write, unless thinking is involved first.
ReplyDeleteSean: Gotta admit, the pikelets page was the most used by myself. I left the lammingtons to my mother.
Although, the Edmonds custard recipe (on the back of the Edmonds custard packet) got more action. Yum.
Hah! 85.514m
ReplyDeleteThat makes me 35,357th best in the world. I think that's good?
Paper Dart Thowing
Ahhh, lammingtons. Now there's a memory from the childhood.
ReplyDeleteIt's also a memory from a few weeks ago...but I didn't have whipped cream coming out of the middle of it.
ReplyDeleteMojo - you might like the Education video I just linked. Have you seen it before? (Anyone watching it - perhaps leave your comments against that post)

Can't say I've done any of that myself.
ReplyDelete"...Most places teach martial arts as a sport, some as an art. Therein lies the difference..."
ReplyDeleteIndeed, therein is the difference!
One learns how easy it is to kill and holds them self back from the act.
Because the real strength is in being able to do so.
Yea, I wasn't very strong until I had to dig so many holes in the back yard...
ReplyDeleteDurn, not supposed to talk about that...
Only 60.01m ... perhaps there is something to practicing a bit of 'biffo' after all.
ReplyDeleteGood evening everyone.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late
It's Friday evening here.
I should have commented this morning.
Morning all. Wakey, wakey.
