Friday Night Free For All

How has everyone's week been? Mine's been hard work, with both my children sick and a couple of days where I wasn't feeling too crash-hot, either. At least both of them slept this afternoon, which is really unusual. They normally harass me to let them watch TV.

I also did another Amazon order yesterday of books I was going to put off buying until later, but with the NZ dollar in free-fall, waiting didn't seem like a great idea. Only downside is that Amazon don't actually charge until they ship, so looks like the dollar dropped another two cents in between my ordering yesterday and Amazon shipping today. * Big Sigh! *

  1. Evening all (or is *all* a little too expansive tonight?).

A long hard week that started last Friday night, with enough oil burnt after midnight to fuel an Air NZ round trip to Baghdad.

So tonight it shall be Thai food. Back soon with some Red Curry and anything else that takes my fancy...

  2. Evening, Lucyna and Zen.
Bit of a slack week here--just work and very little else achieved.

  3. I've gotten to the point where there is so much going on, it's too hard to comment. Seems almost pointless.

  4. I know the feeling. But it will pass, as it always does. Which is the reason I just put up a phoygraph of the Tanami desert on my site--to remind me of what space, perfect silence and utter calm felt like.
No wonder mystics and loonies of various shades are captivated by deserts. :-)

  5. Bought Dad home from hospital on Mon after gastro surg.
On Tues our youngest son got thumped in the face at school whilst trying to stop a fight.
I popped my knee out and ripped me meniscus on Wednesday.
On Thurs our school acting principal lost the plot at the acting DP and I had to go in as BoT chair and prevent a NZEI meltdown occuring.
Fri is good, I like fridays :-)

  6. LOL, kg!

Oh my goodness, Mr Tips! You've had a bit a killer week there!

Is everyone, including yourself, alright today?

  7. I can (as usual) top all of your feeble tales of woe.
We had another 150 year weather event in the bay of Islands this week and my last two pineapples fell off the spa pool and snapped off.
On a more sunny note i took possession of my new mower this week so i will be in my ipod bubble all weekend riding the new beast.

As for the weather--serves you right for boasting about your "sub-tropical" climate, BB.

  9. It has been more sub-marine than sub-tropical since late march. Very frustrating when you have a new shiny toy sitting in the barn all week waiting for some sun to dry the paddock

  10. Pineapples on the spa pool Barnsley? Very Magnum PI....;-)

Yeah, better now Lucyna thanks. Dad is better, our son has that "you should see the other guy" look on his face. The knee has bounced back surprisingly well and our acting principal now has a new appreciation of what BoT's can do........

KG, Bishop Fulton Sheen had a saying that solitude is the fortress of the strong. Maybe that's why the mystics ran to the sands?

  11. I feel your pain, BB! Last year the wind took out one of my very old, large, fragrant, deep red rosebushes. Snapped it beyond salvage. I haven't been able to replace it yet.

Oh good, Mr Tips! Hopefully it's just one of those things that happens all at once and then nothing for a while.

I think I need a trip to the sands as well.

  12. One hour of my life wasted waiting for the Thai food. They were very busy tonight. Oh why didn't I think to bring a book? I usually do (as a backup plan for unexpected delays).

Well, the food was good. Now bedtime stories for the kids. Perhaps I can weave in all these tales of woe, misery and challenging times ...

The fight at the spa pool where a principal is hit on the head from falling pineapples as he is kneed in the gastro region by a Thai food delivery man that took offense to being accused of being one hour late on the account his car broke down so he stole a ride-on lawn mower...

...or I could just read a book I suppose.

  13. evening all ... & you are so right Mr Tips, males can be so .. well ...so strong and downright versatile in the face of adversity.
I bet Ms Tips was kissing all the wounded bits, including damaged pride, better though.

  14. Well, my lesson for tonight is: never buy chips from a pizza place. Waste of time.

    But the pizza was ok.

  15. Can't say I've done much for Islamic Awareness week, aside from a brief conversaion with one guy who's experienced first hand the sort of "awareness" only Islam can bring.

That would be the "glad to have gotten away with one's life" sort of awareness.
