Russell Norman and His Message

I see Lucia has done a post on this as well, but I had to write something after just having seen this afternoon's One News and Russell Norman's statement that, "[Colin Craig] says he's Christian, well, Jesus Christ - if he believed in anything, he believed in love, tolerance and inclusion, not the politics of hatred that Colin Craig is promoting [...] Colin Craig should apologize to all new Zealanders for his disgusting and offensive comments. Let's live in a society of tolerance and inclusion - and love. That, surely, is what the Christian message, interpreted the best way, is all about" This angered me - a lefty socialist spouting off about what he thinks Jesus believed, when the Bible - God's own word - clearly points to homosexual conduct being wrong, in both the Old and New Testaments. When Norman talks about the Christian message, "interpreted the best way", he means interpreted the progressive, liberal way - Norman's way. Libera...

Catholicism "Religious Extremism" According To U.S Army

A story today about how the U.S Army has lumped Catholicism and evangelical Christianity in with the Klu Klux Klan and Al Qaeda as "religious extremism" according to a report on Fox News . The U.S. Army listed Evangelical Christianity and Catholicism as examples of religious extremism along with Al Qaeda and Hamas during a briefing with an Army Reserve unit based in Pennsylvania, Fox News has learned. “We find this offensive to have Evangelical Christians and the Catholic Church to be listed among known terrorist groups,” said Ron Crews, executive director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty. “It is dishonorable for any U.S. military entity to allow this type of wrongheaded characterization.” The incident occurred during an Army Reserve Equal Opportunity training brief on extremism. Topping the list is Evangelical Christianity. Other organizations listed included Catholicism, Al Qaeda, Hamas, the Ku Klux Klan, Sunni Muslims, and Nation of Islam. The mi...

The Dirty Unseen Side Of Abortion They Don't Want You To See

The video above is an interview with the mother of 18 year old Marla Cardamone who was killed while having an abortion ( WARNING: Contains Graphic Images ). She has given permission for pictures of her daughter and unborn granddaughter to be used in a campaign by pro-life group Life Dynamics. This is the first time images like this have been used and Marla's mother wants people to see what Planned Parenthood did to her daughter. A pro-life group has released the graphic images today of a woman who was killed in a botched legal abortion. The group says they are some of the first images ever seen publicly of a woman who was brutalized by an abortion that claimed her life. When 18-year-old Marla Cardamone was killed having an abortion at a Pennsylvania hospital, her mother, Deborah, vowed that she would never let her daughter be forgotten.  Then, late last year, she approached the pro-life group Life Dynamics and asked the group’s president Mark Crutcher to help her show the ...

Libra "Transgender" Blow Up

Another storm has erupted (so soon in the New Year?) over a Libra ad for a women's hygiene product (see ad above). The Herald has a story on it, and it's being called 'Transphobic' by some (yes, another made up word), who claim that it is discriminatory to transgender 'women', because if they don't have a period then they can't really be women. The Hand Mirror has gotten into the fray and said that Libra doesn't get it, and that the ad is offensive to cis-women (read 'normal women') and transgenders, both. I posted a response on their blog, but it got removed for "transphobic" reasons, so, I'm posting it again below. ----- I don't mean to offend the transgender community either, but dressing up as a woman does not make you female. A huge part of what it means to be female is the ability to bear and nurture offspring. That is one of the things that make male and female different and which is reflecte...

Liberal Fanaticism

Every now and then the secular blogs like to pick up a generic story highlighting the evils of religious fundamentalism and open the chat threads for a bit of religion bashing. Kiwiblog has one going at the moment ( Religious Fanaticism ), and the Standard kicked one off recently that kind of backfired: Peter Jackson - Satan's Little Helper . By pointing out how some presumably extremist religious group had identified Sir Peter Jackson's upcoming Hobbit movie as a sell out to the deep and distinctly Christian themes running through the original Tolkien LOTR books, it should have been fair game. But being a left wing blog, Christian bashing had to take a back seat to Jackson's supposed capitalist, anti-union, commercial sell-out motivations. Kiwiblog, on the other hand, has used a story of ultra orthodox Jews acting like the Taleban with regard to the treatment of an 8 year old girl for dressing "immodestly". This has provided an entree for atheists to de...

Conservative Journalist Leaves Herald

Well, it had to happen sooner or later: Garth George is leaving the NZ Herald. His last column is today, and he says- The editors decided back in October that this column does not fit in with their future plans for the opinion pages. And while I shall miss penning my weekly opinions, and have to adapt to a painful drop in income, I hold no rancour. One can only wonder who the Herald intends in their "future plans" for opinion columnists. Perhaps someone like Pam Corkery or her ilk? It will be sad to see George go. He is a conservative and a Catholic, and as such perhaps didn't fit in with the liberal opinions and tastes of those who helm the Herald. I didn't always agree with everything he wrote, but I did so more often than not. He will continue to write his columns for in the Bay of Plenty Times in Tauranga, and the Daily Post in Roturua. It's interesting to read that he is actually a Member of the New Zealand order of Merit (see photo above)

Social liberalism and welfare

What we do in our bedrooms matters to everyone, yet social liberals just do not get the link between sexual activity unconstrained by the bounds of marriage and our ever increasing dependence on welfare in New Zealand. It's as if sex should be exempt from consequences! Related link: ACT and social liberalism ~ KiwiBlog

Who Are The Real "Haters"?

After the recent tragic shooting of Congresswoman Gifford in the US and the subsequent attack by Liberals on Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, and the Right (which had nothing to do with it), Michelle Malkin has put together a little ' Illustrated Primer " (a link to which Zen has also given in a post below) looking back ten years that shows who the real haters are. It's not the Conservatives, who are only standing up for the Constitution and their morals rights: no, it is the progressive Left who cannot seem to contain their hate, but must express it in images like the one shown here for example, an image sold on Getty (now withdrawn) of someone pointing a rifle at Sarah Palin and her daughter, and the infamous " Abort Sarah Palin " stickers. The ultimate in hypocrisy.

MTV Abortion Programme

Andrei posted about this a little bit the other day, but MTV had a show recently devoted to following some girls who have an abortion. Lori Ziganto over at Big Journalism posts a scathing review of the show and it's abortion sales pitch ("it's just a 'ball of cells'") to youth. It's worth reading the entire post , but some snippets - The show was entirely agenda-driven and these young girls were sickly used and exploited for that purpose only. The token nod to a pro-life position was a quick question in the discussion panel: “Did you consider adoption?” One of the girls said that wouldn’t have been an option because it wasn’t the baby part that was scary; it was that pregnancy is icky. She had an abortion to avoid pregnancy symptoms. Another spoke of the sacrifices (her word) that she had to make to pay the $750.00 abortion fee. Her prom ticket , for one . Sacrifice was a running theme, except it appears that the word has lost any real meaning. The girl...

Margaret Sanger Interview

Very interesting archival interview (video) by Mike Wallace of the mother of birth control Margaret Sanger. Wow, she looks like a very, hard, unmovable lady. She also denies a lot of the things she'd said before. He puts to her the Catholic Churches view, and that of Natural Law. WALLACE: Well let's look at the official Catholic position...opposition to Birth-Control. I read now from a church publication called "The Question Box" in forbidding Birth Control it says the following: It says the immediate purpose and primary end of marriage is the begetting of children, when the marital relation is so used as to render the fulfillment of its purposes impossible--that is by Birth Control--it is used unethically and unnaturally. Now what's wrong with that position? SANGER: Well, it's very wrong, it's not normal it's -- it has the wrong attitude towards marriage, toward love, toward the relationships between men and women. WALLACE: Well the natural law the...

Smoking vs Abortion Deaths

I see that in Garth George's column today in the NZ Herald, he makes a point about how people are jumping up and down and making a fuss about the number of deaths from smoking and alcohol when, in comparison, 17,500 abortions took place last year. I think he makes a very good point. I see the liberal bloggers are attacking him again over it. ' Editing The Herald ' blog has a go (I have left a little reply there), and so does The Hand Mirror (calling the column "a pile of dreck", although she has closed comments). The lack of respect these people have for life astounds and angers me...

What would have been appropriate in response to the offensive billboard

Before Christmas, liberal Anglican Glynn Cardy of St Matthews-in-the-City of Auckland put up an offensive billboard lampooning Our Lady, Joseph and God. With out a doubt, a truly blasphemous billboard. I have just been reading a book on Purgatory , and quite honestly, Glynn Cardy needs our prayers. Blasphemy is a mortal sin, one that severs a person from God, and even if repented for, could quite easily call for a long, long (and very unpleasant) time in Purgatory. (For more, see St Catherine of Genoa: Treatise on Purgatory ) A number of Christians on David Farrar's blog have applauded the consequent vandalism of the offensive billboard, first coated in brown paint and then attacked by knitting needle wielding elderly lady. David Farrar's response, thinking Christians are dangerous fanatics , is almost appropriate, except for the fact that the vandalism was restricted to the billboard itself. It seems I was incorrect in thinking that most Christians would not approve of an...

The Press is still bashing Nixon after all these years

"You won't have Nixon to kick around anymore, because, gentlemen, this is my last press conference." Richard Nixon - November 7, 1962 The media has always loathed Richard Nixon, an upstart Quaker from rural California who became a giant in American politics and world politics as well as President of the United States. Eventually the media succeeded in destroying his Presidency - quite possibly in their tiny minds their greatest triumph. And a great many readers will see Nixon as the epitome of corrupt and dirty politics, as if! But it is no great surprise to find the Media trotting out anti Nixon stories on the occasion of the death of Teddy Kennedy, that great icon of Liberalism. The contrast between the Kennedy's and Nixon could not be greater - the former were playboys born into a life of wealth and privilege whereas Nixon was born into an impoverished but strict quaker household. Two of Nixon's brothers died of tuberculosis one in childhood in the family home...
