With an increasing number of burglars, thugs and murderers being chased and caught by concerned citizens, fears for the criminal underclass have caused NZ Labour and the Greens to come out strongly in favour of more police:
Some poor criminal is eventually going to get hurt by some-one who claims to be 'protecting' themselves. More police on the streets will send a strong message to the community that vigilante justice will not be tolerated.
In the past, criminals could act with impunity knowing police would be at least 45 minutes away from responding. Now, we are finding that we need to lift our game - or a criminal could get hurt.

No, the number is deliberate. That's because the rest of the story is satirical. If you read the link, yet another person is in trouble for taking on criminals.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to get to the point where the socialists will decide this is just not on. How will they react? Throw people like this in jail, and get more police to catch and prosecute anyone who shows signs of defending their property and their lives.
My rant becomes all to believable I think.
So, to be clear - Clark promises a 1000 police as serious crime increases. The socialists will offer 30 times the amount to come down on those who dare to announce that the government has failed us and we need to take action. For once we realise this is required, we start to wonder why we allow such a government to exist.

ReplyDeleteNo way MK - they announced a policy of 1000 extra over three years and it has been a catastrophe.
To meet the target they have recruited people who in some cases are functionally illiterate. One was arrested on rape charges involving a prostitute (he got off).
And to cover it up head office produced statistics for the minister of police omitting the duds from the numbers.
Yes, unfortunately, they are more likely to rush a 'vigilante bill' through parliament to:
ReplyDelete1. Remove guns from the hands of citizens. (Somehow, criminals will still have them.)
2. Instant fines for anyone caught defending their property
3. The confiscation of property that anyone successfully scares a burglar away from (to deter Vigilantism, since its pointless protecting it if you lose it anyway)
4. Restorative Justice: Any one who captures a criminal in their house will be introduced to the criminals family to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
5. In the event you get killed defending your property, your next of kin will inherit the fines and required community service.
