A Qantas airline steward who gave a 15 year old his phone number on a flight has been stood down after the mother complained.
Good on the mother. If some asshole went after my son, I'd want his balls in a vice - but then that's me.

I do find it arther odd that the mother first went to the media, and not Qantas.
ReplyDeleteIF the story is true it could be quite easilly proven by giving the cell phone number to the police. The boy does have the cell number, I assume?
Smacks to me like yet another scammer trying to screw a few bucks.
Oh, and I think you should edit your header?
ReplyDeleteWhat is a "potential paodophile"? Maybe we all have the potential, perhaps alleged would be a better term, or even accused if charges have been laid, which I doubt will happen.
Fugley, thankyou for bringing my header to my attention. I've fixed Qantas and changed paedophile to pederast.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I disagree that we all have the potential. Maybe you see yourself that way, and if you do, stay away from children. Anyway, as far as I know, this guy has not been alleged to have been a paedophile - maybe he just like stamp collecting and thought he'd get together with the teen-aged boy to discuss the matter. Personally, I think he was looking for more than that, hence my use of the word "potential".
I have a spare vice at home....
ReplyDeleteThe police have been informed from what I hear.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a very legitimate story, and the mother was right to go to the media. People expect high standards from airlines, and it's quite a shock to hear that cabin crew might be grooming a boy like this. How many times has he gotten away with it?
Is there any evidence that the mother went to the media first?
ReplyDeleteaCCORDING TO THE MEDIA, YES SHE WENT TO THEM FIRTS
ReplyDeleteooooppps, sorry about caps
ReplyDeleteThe story reports that it was a NZ domestic flight!
ReplyDeleteNo mention in the kiwi msm as yet.
BB, don't you count The Press, NZ Herald, The Australian as MSM? I saw it in each of those 2 days ago.
ReplyDeleteOK, here's another one, not a potential abuser, but an actual abuser, and no, not a QANTAS steward, but a god bothering red hot minister.
Seems like god's servants just can't keep their hands to themselves.
TWO teachers and a church minister were among 13 Queensland men arrested for possessing and distributing child pornography today.

ReplyDeleteNeither can twice as many members of the Teacher's Union.
Wrong, KG. Only one was eligible for membership of the teacher's union, pre-school teacher's have a different union. And there is nothing that confirms the teacher was/is a member of the union; membership is not compulsory.
ReplyDeleteFurtermore, the teacher MAY have been employed a t a church school, for all we know, and even (hoorror) a practicing catholic, but I only commented on what was revealed, not waht may be speculated/
