NZ Conservative supports the truck drivers!

Given the coverage everywhere else, our apologies for not adding our voice to this.

  1. Not surprised that you'd support those who think themselves above the commonwealth.

Why should they be immune from paying the costs of the infrastructure unerpinning their business?

  2. Not surprised that you'd be against those that ask the government keep its promises regarding notice of rates increases, for example.

Why should the government be immune from treating tax payers who fund infrastructure with respect?

  3. funny, funny.

Governments, in case you hadn't noticed, btreak promises all the time. So do corporations and individuals.

The rela gripe from the truckies is that they were denied an opportunity to stockpile their RUC.

Still, the funniest comment I have heard so far was from a woman who said "The government shouldn't be charguing truckies, they should pay for the roads from taxes". Well d'uH

Why should the government be immune from treating tax payers who fund infrastructure with respect?

I am a taxpayer. I fund infrastructure. I am unaware that the government was required to treat me wtih respect, but I don't feel "disrespected" either.

I drive a petrol car and as the price of petrol rises so does my contribution to road funding. And I never get any notice the fuel price is going to rise. Why should truckies be treated any differently?

  4. on an off topic note - now you have provided my name and address to dad4justice, are you in the party coming over to kick my head in tomorrow?

  5. I haven't done any such thing Fugley. Why would you think so? Why would you think we have your name and address for that matter? Feel free to email me direct if you would like to take this off-line.

  6. Just the following email from daddio this morning ...

ha ha you are totally insane and Zen has given me your name and address, expect a visit from my friends this weekend. I will have the ultimate alibi.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
Unable to email you direct as I don't have an email address for you. It seems this warped doofus will involve any and everyone in his fantasies.

  7. Presuming you are not the insane one and manufacturing this, I can assure you I am not the Zen in that email, or I too am being swept into something I have nothing to do with.

I'm not sure how Dad would have an alibi by sending that email in any event, and unless he has discovered who you are independently, you are probably quite safe as I have no idea who you are.

I've enabled email on my blogger profile, perhaps you need to refresh after clicking my name on the comment?

  8. Of course we all know he's a nutbar frootloop.

    Anyway, back to topic :

I drive a petrol car and as the price of petrol rises so does my contribution to road funding. And I never get any notice the fuel price is going to rise. Why should truckies be treated any differently?

  9. Because that was the deal done.

The minister agreed to give us notice, a month's notice, and introduce legislation to avoid forward buying and she totally reneged on that promise, it was simply given without warning," says Tony Friedlander, chief executive office of the Road Users' Transport Forum.

    Honour your contracts.

But there is more to it than that of course. Liberty Scott has a good post about it: Greens wrong on trucks

  10. Why am I not surprised that Fugley regards broken promises and lying government ministers (our employees) as nothing to get excited about?
He epitomises the the moral bankruptcy of the left.
