  1. You could give us the death tolls from Georgia and Chechnya, or would that be to inconvenient for your argument? The reason for Crimea is that the Ukrainian soldiers showed great restraint in not defending Crimea against Russian aggression, despite having every legal and moral right to do so. Putting that down to Russia is laughable propaganda worthy of the ex KGB agent currently occupying the Kremlin.

  2. Shawn - there is no Neo-Soviet imperialism, that is hysteria.

All the Russian Federation wants to do is sell its gas to Europe so that it can pay for its schools and hospitals etc

When its neighbour Ukraine needed money to pay its debts, Putin offered it a 15 billion dollar loan and to reduce the price it payed for its gas from the Russian Federation.

Then all hell broke loose, including this major outbreak of Russophobia and a state of civil war in its Neighbour Ukraine who have been forced to take the IMF bailout package the previous Government didn't want to take

As for Crimea, it is strategically important to the Russian Federation, as it provides access for them to the Mediterranean sea and given the civil unrest in Ukraine Russia, by slight of hand, absorbed it into the Russian Federation.

Now everyone is hopping mad - except perhaps for the people who live in Crimea itself - who have got a really good deal and lots of Russian money coming into their community

  3. I am afraid that your facts are in error. There have been deaths in Crimea. It is just that the numbers are not known. I believe that a more full accounting of the dead will occur once the refugees enter Ukraine. Though I do not expect the casualties to be heavy. But sugar coating the truth does not help your cause.

  4. That's right I forgot the sniper attack, that killed two. A seventeen year old Right Sector Pravo Sektor activist from Western Ukraine was caught and is now awaiting trial for his sins.

There was no invasion William - it was all smoke and mirrors. The Ukrainian troops Stationed in Crimea took off their insignia and occupied their own bases becoming Russian Troops after the annexation.

The ones who didn't want to do this went back to Ukraine still as Ukrainian troops but out of 18000 servicemen on the peninsula only 1500 or so took this option.

Ukraine has lost most of its fleet as well, including the Admiral in Charge of the whole Ukrainian Navy.

And you can see why this happened if you know this part of the world - its a no brainer in fact.

America does not rule the world, and Putin is reminding everyone of that they don't have to bow and scrape to Washington.

Which is why everyone is so hopping mad and also why there is so much Russophobia and Putin demonization in the English speaking media and so little real reporting of what is actually happening in Ukraine but lots of John Kerry and Nato posturing.
