  1. Christ is Risen!

    Хрiстосъ Воскресе!

    Chrystus Zmartwychwstał!

    Χριστός ἀνέστη!

    ------------------------------------

    Truly He is Risen!

    Воистину Воскресе!

    Prawdziwie Zmartwychwstał!

    Ἀληθῶς ἀνέστη!

  2. Unless blog commenting was the first chore of the day, you're posting early in the moring for someone who was probably up until 3am after a midnight Vigil Mass!

  3. Midnight Mass is more of a Christmas thing. I suppose there might be a Midnight Easter vigil Mass, but I've never been to one.

    Ours is usually at 7pm.

  4. Greg, your time settings might be out. My post was made at 11:29 pm, New Zealand time, on Saturday night.

I'd just finished watching another section of The Passion of the Christ, from the flogging to right before the Crucifixion. I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish watching it tonight, or if I'll leave it for next year.

  5. Yeah true about your main post time, I was unclear though as I was responding to andrei's 10 am comment.

While we Catholics do Vigil at 7pm, the Orthodox do Easter Vigil Mass at Midnight. Lots of standing and it goes until 230-3am.
    Breathe with both lungs.

  6. Catholics do Easter Vigil (midnight) as well, it's just very rare in NZ. St Mary's of the Angels in Wellington have had them. I don't know about this year, though.

I was just having a conversation with a group of people today about how it would be nice if we did have an Easter Vigil midnight mass. Our parish doesn't even do the midnight Christmas mass. :(

  7. Greg is right, 11:30 till after 3am.

In fact Pascha (Easter), is the biggest day of the church year bigger than Christmas.

And it has a been full on day.

To me, at least, the Resurrection is the central thing about Easter and while the Good Friday focus on the suffering of Christ is important it is replaced today by the joy of the Resurrection.

Mel Gibson's film, "The Passion of Christ", disappointed in that regard.

The Resurrection was barely touched on at all.

And while most Kiwis do not know an approriate greeting for the season modifying the Christmas greeting to "Happy Easter" we do have.

So I posted it for Lucyna and other
readers that they may use it if they so desire, today and in future years.

I would have made a Blog Post myself on this but certain troll types would have profaned it.

  8. Ok, now I'm with you both.

Greg wasn't originally talking to me, he was talking to Andrei.

    Thanks, Andrei.
