Nothern Exposure

Finally, a few more facts are coming out on the net (or is it the twitterverse?) which should shed light on the potential VP:

* Chuck Norris and Jack Bauer once teamed up to fight Sarah Palin, and lost.
* Sarah Palin is John Conner's real mother.
* Sarah Palin is the reason compasses point North.
* Queen Elizabeth II curtsied when she was introduced to Sarah Palin
* Jesus has a bracelet that says, “WWSPD?”
* Death once had a near-Sarah Palin experience
* Sarah Palin can win a game of Connect Four in only three moves!
* In the original version, He-Man had the power of Sarah Palin, but the writers felt this would make him way too powerful
* When Sarah Palin booked a flight to Europe, the French immediately surrendered

* Sarah Palin became governor because five children left her with too much spare energy.
* Sarah Palin is on loan from the Justice League.
* Chuck Norris wishes he was Sarah Palin trapped in a man’s body.
* The Northern Lights are really just the reflection from Sarah Palin’s eyes.

  2. Not a bad idea, Andy. John Clark has just released a "greatest hits DVD I think. I'll have to check it out, and give it a plug so that I can get away with putting up a clip.

She's married Barnsley. Have a cold shower and pretend she's the sister you never had...

  5. Wow. The cable newsers have just shown the McCain and Palin clans posing for a group shot on the tarmac, the wind blowing everyone's bangs astray, with Levi and pregnant Bristol demonstratively holding hands. The McCainiacs apparently have decided to go full metal soap opera. So now the theme of the Republican convention isn't Defeating Obama or Drill, Drill, Drill, it's "Let's Rally 'Round These Two Love-Crazed Kids and Show Them We Care." I'm not sure that's a winning formula for the fall, but the exotic, tribal ways of the Republican base are alien to us ballet-goers, so maybe Bristol's baby bump will translate into a bump in the polls for the Republicans, the path to victory strewn with baby diapers.

Refreshing indeed. You're all completely fucking mad.
For some strange reason I thought you took politics seriously. Now I realise it's all just a big game. You've never moved beyond left = bad , right = good.

  7. "but the exotic, tribal ways of the Republican base are alien to us ballet-goers..."
Oh dear--the gaffed thrashings of a leftard when faced with a threat to its Messiah Big-Ears...
A lot of other things are alien to you lot Ackers--things such as service and patriotism and principles, just for starters.
No, a lot of us have never moved beyond Left=bad right=good, for one very good reason--the evil done by the left means that support of the right is the only option, for all the faults of the right.
We look at the logical endpoint of leftism--and that logical endpoint has been demonstrated often enough--and regard almost anything as preferable.
Killing fields, Lubyanka, gulags... Or freedom and prosperity.
    Hmm...tough choice, that.

  8. Yeah, nice quotes eh, and
"You've never moved beyond left = bad , right = good."

    Truth hurts eh.

I love this "Messiah" stuff. Check out the posts at No Minister this year - you'll find no posts from me about Obama, favourable or otherwise. In fact, I've noticed very few posts about Obama on left-wing NZ blogs at all.

Compare that with the embarrassing flood of delusional hagiography written about Sarah Palin on NZ right-wing blogs the last week or so, particularly the view that she's the saviour of the Republican campaign, and they now can't lose. Which group do you really think has the Messiah complex, KG?

  10. "you'll find no posts from me about Obama, favourable or otherwise. In fact, I've noticed very few posts about Obama on left-wing NZ blogs at all."

Psycho, it may come as something of a surprise, but when I wrote that comment in reply to Ackers, posts written by you weren't in the forefront of my mind.
In fact, posts written by you are utterly irrelevant to me.
As for the number of posts written about Obama by NZ left wing blogs--that may well be simply an illustration of the parochialism of NZ's left wing bloggers.
Care to point out a right wing blog that's claimed the Republican's "can't lose" now that Palin's on board, or is that just another of your unsubstantiated snide remearks?

  11. PM, as I said over at the DimPost:

This [Palin] is a great selection. It’s made the elections interesting. I’m no longer sure Obama will get the landslide victory he was standing under.

You may have misinterpreted this as me saying its a slam/dunk for the GOP. I'm not saying that, its simply that I'm now interested that Palin has managed to scare the Democrats so much, it looks like there may be a fight on their hands. I suspect they thought after beating Hillary, McCain would be a cakewalk.

Instead, Hillary now reminds them of the good old days.

  12. It's a gamble that may pay off for McCain, agreed Zen. Choosing Palin successfully made the election a blue state/red state conflict, so he's now in with a good chance.

KG: the piece of your comment I quoted appeared generally directed at those you characterise as "leftards," of which I am definitely one. If you're directing such comments only at Ackers, make it clear.

Care to point out a right wing blog that's claimed the Republican's "can't lose" now that Palin's on board, or is that just another of your unsubstantiated snide remearks?

How about my own? Both Adolf and Fairfacts Media have posted along those lines. Many right-wing commenters have shared that view.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I read Fairfacts and Adolf's post carefully and I've never seen them make that assertion. At most they seem to think that Palin has energised the Republicans and improved their chances.
That's a hell of a long way from "can't lose".
So, you really can't point out a right-wing commenter who has claimed that can you?

  14. From posts at No Minister:

"I am more than impressed with Palin and I see she will take McCain to the White House."

"Palin is 'destroying' the Democrats and the leftist media."

On the difference between Key and Obama: "Key will WIN his election later this year!"

"I'd say that, failing an unforeseen disaster, the game is already over and Mr Obama can slink back to the back streets of Chicago where he belongs.."

    From the comments threads:

"frankly I hope McCain has to resign after a couple of years- that would give us 10 years of a Palin Presidency!"

"Victory for the Republican's is now all but assured."

    "Obama is TOAST."

"I love Sarah Palin and wish her well as the next Vice President."

  15. I think PM's point about this "messiah" stuff is actually a very good one. Palin is doing so well (amongst GOP voters - ignore the pseudo-intellectuals of the media and the bitterness of the democrat bnloggers) that they are in danger of over-hyping her.

Mind you, there are some sections in the Democrats that are guilty of the same with "their man Barrack".

Since I've been reminded it is Freddy's birthday, let me paraphrase some lines from a Queen. It's worth playing the whole song though, it's just fun.

    Flash - Musical Accompaniment

Palin - Ah-aa - Saviour of the universe
    Palin - Ah-aa - She'll save ev'ry one of us

(Seemingly there is no reason for these Extraordinary Intergalactical upsets (ha ha ha)
    What's happening Flash?

Only Barrack Obama formerly at a Community Centre has provided any explanation)

    Palin - Ah-aa - She's a miracle

[This mornings unprecedented solar eclipse .. Is no cause for alarm]

Palin - Ah-aa - Queen of the impossible

She's for ev'ry one of us
Stands for ev'ry one of us
She'll save with a mighty hand
    Ev'ry man ev'ry woman ev'ry child
    With a mighty Flash

    (General Obama, Sarah Palin approaching

What do you mean Sarah Palin approaching? Open fire - all weapons. Dispatch the New York Times to bring back her body)

    Palin - Ah-aa

    Sarah's alive)

    Palin - Ah-aa - She'll save ev'ry one of us

Just a woman with a hockey mom's courage

You know she's nothing but a woman
    But she can never fail

No one but the pure in heart
May find the golden grail oh oh oh oh

    (Palin, Palin I love you
But we only have fourteen hours to save the Earth)

    Palin!
