  2. Cold and gloomy? Try looking out the round window then, LRO.

It's reasonably warm and sunny up in Kapiti. Might take up Lucia's suggestion and have a red wine. Had a nip of Honey Bourbon the other night, that was very, very nice.

  3. Cold and damp in North Otago - might be enough to turn irrigators off for the weekend.

A small glass of Charles Wiffen sav. blanc is going down well with leftover roulade.

  4. Hi all,

Nik is at the Big Day Out - been following what's the go on Stuff.

Apparently its raining and also it is in these strange authoritarian times SMOKEFREE which hasn't gone down to well with some of the punters.

This band which is incredibly popular in my house, sigh is playing: Die Antwoord.

This is not, as they say, worksafe but if you want to see what the young are into .....

Oh no, I sound like my father!

  5. "but if you want to see what the young are into ..... "

I think I'd rather listen to doay's birthday boy - Placido Domingo.

  8. Hi LRO, HP, Zen and Andrei.

I did sit here for a while, but over the last few hours I have watered the gardens (alternated between putting the sprinklers on and using the hose for the non-sprinkler areas), taken washing off the line and popped it in the dryer, made my 9yo's bed (need to teach him how to do it - he thinks it's too hard), had dinner, helped with drying the dishes, washed the last lot (dishwasher coming tomorrow!!!). I think that's it.

So, the red of the night is Wolf Blass Yellow Label South Aus Merlot, 2009. Got it more than half price from Wollies the other day, for $9.99. I try to never spend more than $12.99 on my wines.

  9. LOL, Andrei.

Same here. Though, my spell-checker tells me when there is a typo, I have the opportunity to fix it before posting. That's why I tend to look so well spelt.

  10. Andrei,

I don't even recognise the names the bands, any more.

  11. evening all. (Well, it's still daytime here, for about another hour)
Wet and warm and waiting to cook dinner for the Other Half when she eventually gets home--waiting for a RFDS plane to evac a patient.

  12. Hi KG!

What are you going to make?

  13. Evening all. Just been distracted by a domestic incident - apparently a couple had a fight outside our house including punching. I missed it whilst reading my youngest his bedtime story, but the neighbours called the Police.

I went out to see if it was still ongoing and if I had to do anything before the Police got there, but the couple had headed into the holiday rental and quietened down.

The Police arrived quickly and went down to have a chat - it's been a while now and there is the occasional raised voice.

This is unusual for this neighbourhood.

  14. Um....probably frozen fishcakes and frozen chips, Lucia Maria. There are no potatoes left in this town and very little of anything else, so we're down to using our wet season stores.
By the time we get this lady on to the 'plane it'll be about 10.30 anyway.

  15. KG,

Nothing wrong with fish-cakes. I'm sure your Other Half will be looking forward to what ever you make.

  16. I had to look up a word that I'd never heard of the other day (when I was reading Europe and the Faith online, by Belloc).

    Mensuration.

Without looking it up, does anyone here actually know what it means?

  17. Isn't it to do with measuring geometric quantities such as area, length etc? And the business of measurement in general?

  18. Good evening everyone!
Bit late as I have been in York all day. Lovely and sunny, just 4-5 degrees with frost all day in the shade. No snow.
I went to a Spanish tapas bar with a mate, drunk cheap plonk, before we went to a bar by the river and had sone fine Sam Smiths stout.
I had some Wolf Blass Yellow Label over Xmas and it was on special for about $10 too.
Wither Hills was in a supermarket today for $20.
The best deal was at Costco a few weeks back when I paid $11 or 5 pound 50 for bottles of Montana Sauvignon Blanc special reserve.
    Very yummy.
