Friday night free for all

I was going bump yesterday's early Friday Night Free For All, but, then it wouldn't turn up on everyone's sidebars (because we have since written more posts and I think that recent post thing works on a sequence number, not a date and time .. /end programmer speak).

So, we continue here, for anyone that is around.

Comments

  1. So, a "new improved" FNFFA then?

This one could be quiet. Many people may well be far away from their computers for Easter.

Certainly the ones that only blog from work :-)

    ReplyDelete
  2. I'm not sure we get those that blog from work in the evenings when things really come alive here.

    Still expecting quiet, though.

Have to make dinner for the kids now. I'm just having a snack, since I'm supposed to be fasting.

  3. A Good evening on Great Friday to you Lucyna and to you Zen and to all those who may pass this way in the course of the night.

Sweet little Nadezhda has moved to Australia one week ago and I miss her so.

I am amazed (well not really) that some of our fellow bloggers have taken the opportunity provided by this most sacred days to have a poke at our Faith.

Still if Christianity can survive the Pagan roman persecutions, the depredations of the Muslims, the Turks and the Golden Horde not forgetting the Communists it surely isn't going to succumb to David Farrar, Facebook and Dr Brian Edwards

  4. Hi Andrei!

I've missed the Brian Edwards poke, but seen the other two.

If they really wanted to hurt us, they'd just not mention anything at all. This way they shoot themselves in the foot by making people think about God.

  5. Evening Andrei. There are a few who seem to have a log in their eye, and equally there have been several who have been respectful.

We enjoy a liberal democracy only whilst we safeguard those things that underpin it.

I'd say more, but such matters might be best left for the posts, and instead I shall contemplate a light meal and a small wine after an enjoyable day.

Took the kids down to the beach today, chilled by the crisp air and roasted by a blazing sun. The breeze was sufficient to engage in a bit of kite flying, which went very well.

There's something very fun about kite flying.

  6. Lucyna;
Do you have a Hymn from todays service (in Latin perhaps) that you could send me as an MP3.

I would like to add it to your post on the crucifiction - assuming you think that is appropriate of course

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hmmmm, let me have a look around ...

  8. Matt and I are here. Our computers have been surgically attached to our vital organs so that we cannot function without them.

Just have to feed the children *ahem... blogging...* then be right back...

Lucyna if you don't want to be annoyed, don't scroll through kiwiblog's front page tonight.

  9. You know, that's just like saying, don't look at the pink elephant! :)

    DPF is so predictable.

  10. Hi all

I am here, I agree with you Lucyna about the "lets use easter as an excuse to poke fun at Christians" thing. I am wondering if Farrar will post something taking the micky out of homosexuals when hero parade are on? On no thats right you supposed to be tolerant and respectful of diversity, or it least when it suits you you should.

  11. Andrei,

Vexilla Regis would be the most appropriate, but I haven't been able to find a good, clean mp3 for it yet.

  12. Hi Matt,

Welcome to the FNFA. Nice to have you here.

Oh no, there would be no making fun of sacred cows. Perish the thought.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Lucyna check your E-Mail

    See what you think

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yes Lucyna, I note your use of the word sacred. Thats quite insightful.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanks, Andrei!

    Matt,

    Insight. Both blessing and curse.
    Helps with the blogging, though.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Did you drop the music, Lucyna, or did it go west somehow?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Andrei,

You can edit my post and add the music. It'll be easier.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I would have thought that now that we are down to 2 cats (the 3rd one died after being hit by a car last year) that they could at least synchronise their comings and goings. All they seem to manage right now is that one goes out when the other comes in.

    ReplyDelete
  19. You can add music on blogger?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Fed the children and the horde of teenagers (of a variety of backgrounds) that had all camped out at our place all day because the mall was shut. All the teens eagerly swarmed around the food so Matt brought out the Bible and did a reading and led a discussion - it was very cool as in the end every teenager contributed to the conversation.

  21. Must be a cat thing, we only have one and it whines to be let out, only to re-appear at the other door whining to be let in a few minutes later.

But then within five minutes it repeats the exercise - and so on.

I think it likes to go on patrol but it is tiresome.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ah, brilliant! The music plays when I reload the main page of our blog. Might drive the heathens crazy, or calm them down. Hard to know which.

I wouldn't of had a clue as to how to do that, Andrei, so, happy that you did it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Evening people. We spent most of the day sleeping, although last night at work was remarkably quiet.
Our two cats seem to be joined at the hip--they enter and exit via the cat flap as a pair, eat together and have synchronised cuddles.
One more night, then four days off....
During which I may pull the Mac apart and fit a new SATA hard drive, if I can clone the existing drive successfully.

  24. Just wait until you get one that has a range of 250KM.

Goats delivered to the door is the way to go.

The shopping debate on Kiwiblog was most, err, instructive. It hasn't really progressed much from last year.

  25. Hi kg. Enjoy your break.

Sound on the main page? That explains the request from my browser to install missing plugins!

OK, I'll give it a go.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Madeleine, sounds like it was busy at your place tonight (and during the day)! Very cool.

Andrei, our recently deceased cat used to do that. It drove me insane. I would sometimes count the number of times she would want to go in and out within a short space of time, but mostly I'd just make her sit and wait at the door. Of course she'd scratch at my curtains and then at the door mat when I left her waiting too long.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi KG,

so you are getting a bit of a holiday then? Would that be both of you?

    ReplyDelete
  28. The sound on the main page is good, but we might need to add an on/off control for those that visit whilst playing their own music.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes ideed Lucyna. :-) It's so nice to get time together.

That music is wonderful! Is it going to be a permanent feature? And what's the chances of getting a copy of it?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Umm... no sound when I reload guys... no messages or pop ups either..?

I use explorer (cause I hate firefox) would that be it?

    ReplyDelete
  31. You Should have a stop pause button Zen.

And yes Madeline explorer is your problem coupled with the way blogger dicks around with HTML.

Mere teething problems - can be fixed

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ah, yes, found it in an obvious place right under my nose.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Madeline, check to see if you have a quick-time plug-in.

Music on the main page, rather than a specific post (as it is now) is a good idea.

I might move it up to the header later and try it out.

I'll send you the sound file kg. I'm sure Andrei's left a path to the gold.

Right now I'm off to watch a movie. Back anon.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Good evening everyone

    Did anyone mention sacred cows?
I've been in enough bother for attacking our former Dear Leader.

And don't talk about goats ZenT, you will get our muslim readers very excited.

BB has his boy up today and I have driven down to Auckland to see some friends.
It was lovely and sunny up north but drizzly down here.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I have the most up to date Quick Time plug in but as I despise the way Firefox makes things look I am not keen to switch to it just so I can hear music when I view your site.

This time on coming in an angry error message did pop up - something about an error on this page that failed to initialise.

Evening FF, Matt was talking about sacred cows earlier - how goes the project of your blogroll update?

    ReplyDelete
  36. It's still Friday somewhere I am sure - better late than never?

    KG: tried Carbon Copy Cloner?

The firewood pile is getting larger but it's best not to chainsaw in the dark by the headlights of the Jeep!

May you all have a blessed Easter!

    ReplyDelete
  37. As for Firefox and Quicktime - they have never behaved for me!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks Zen.
Madeleine, the new Flock browser is pretty good. Worth a look, at least.

Thanks Here I Stand--right now I'm playing with Super Duper because it's Mac friendly but I'll go take a look at CCC.
