When your whole life is about dragging other people down

As a person made in the image and likeness of God, I hope and pray that Trevor Rupe had a final change of heart before he died. But given the things he did to his body and the societal changes he campaigned for, this change of heart would be most unlikely.

I'm reminded of a young woman who set out on a career where she would be flaunting her body to all and sundry, who experienced standing before God  at the end of her life with the last thing that she had done and finding that it didn't amount to much that was worth anything when it came to what was really important. She realised that God had given her gifts and talents and that she had been using them for herself and to bring other people down. The experience shocked her into amending her life.

  1. So, in your opinion - where is Carmen right now?

A person who has made many lives a lot better. Somebody that has inspired other confused people to express themselves and not be afraid of vile bigots who will harm or kill them.

Surely you're not going to say that Carmen is in where you define as hell are you?

  2. Carmen is awaiting judgement day, as is the rest of humanity, Clint.

  3. What a nasty hate filled piece of bigotry.

  4. Heine,

Why does where I think Carmen/Trevor is matter to you? Surely you don't believe in an afterlife?

    Ackers,

It's not too late for you. :)

  5. I don't believe in an after life, you're right. But I do wonder at why you'd be so unchristian about another persons death.

There will not be any judgement day. You'll all die waiting for it. Eternal disappointment for all who believe.

  6. Oh here's Clint, who apparently has far more differences of opinoon with the right than he does with the left.

(BTW, the man in your avatar would kick your progressive arse right back to East Berlin.)

  7. Heine,

So you don't believe in an afterlife, therefore it somewhat meaningless to you as to where I think Trevor will end up.

BTW, I differ from Moneo in that I believe that everyone who dies before the end of the world gets their own private judgement day. The final one is reserved for those still alive when the Lord comes.

This whole thing of accusing me of being "un-Christian" is really a way of attempting me to be silent about what is important when we are alive. Given that I do believe that we are immortal beings and that what we do while we are alive matters, then I'm like the person trying to prevent the lemmings from jumping off the cliff and Trevor's the guy who goaded them on and then jumped off after them. He should not be glorified for doing such a heinous thing to so many people.

    And you believe that. lol!
Your belief (faith) is based on...what, exactly?

I doubt you're even aware of the idiotic arrogance of your assertion.

  9. But I do wonder at why you'd be so unchristian about another persons death.

I thought Lucia's very brief words on the topic to be kind but firm.

The somber fact is that we must all decide before we die if we are doing to acknowledge our Lord and saviour, whether we are prepared to humbly admit our sin.

Out of my bondage, sorrow, and night,
Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!
Into Thy freedom, gladness, and light,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of my sickness into Thy health,
Out of my want and into Thy wealth,
Out of my sin and into Thyself,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of my shameful failure and loss,
Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!
Into the glorious gain of Thy cross,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of earth's sorrows into Thy balm,
Out of life's storm and into Thy calm,
Out of distress to jubilant psalm,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of unrest and arrogant pride,
Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!
Into Thy blessed will to abide,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of myself to dwell in Thy love,
Out of despair into raptures above,
Upward for aye on wings like a dove,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of the fear and dread of the tomb,
Jesus, I come! Jesus, I come!
Into the joy and pleasure, Thine own,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!
Out of the depths of ruin untold,
Into the flock Thy love doth enfold,
Ever Thy glorious face to behold,
    Jesus, I come to Thee!

  10. The usual suspect nastiness from KG and Redbaiter I see. As tolerant as the recently departed Kim Jung Il.

  11. @ Clint -

You only come here because of a sick, obsesssive need to poke little barbs at the Christian faith of the blog owners . . and they allow you to do so, where on the other hand your blog was heavily moderated. You even invented another commentors (remember Mr Perkins) to try and substantiate arguments you were losing.

I don't think you are in a position to lecture anyone about tolerance.

Now be gone you snivelling left-wing man-child.

  12. Reggie, my blog was never moderated. I had to just recently (October) add our first ever filter - but we didn't delete any comments, we were getting spammed hard by Chinese medicine companies.
Mr Perkins, you mean Matthew, who does exist and has since met and gone drinking with all of my co-bloggers in NZ.

If you want to lie then do a better job of it. And what does that have to do with tolerance?

I suspect you're in cahoots with RB etc as only they would spend an entire comment on lies and frothing sexually repressed anger.
