Spontaneous community action called for

You know doubt have heard about the poor woman in Invercargill who finds herself living next door to the man who raped her some years ago and has been harassing her ever since it seems.

Others have blogged on this repulsive individual and the impotence of the authorities to deal with the situation.

Of course we have allowed ourselves to become a nation of sheep to look to authorities to protect us and the authorities have increased their hold over us by sanctioning people who stand up for themselves on occasion.

The way to fix this scuzz bag is to make him a pariah - publish his name, picture and what he has done in the paper - every day. Refuse him service in stores and give him the cold shoulder, people should give him the middle finger when they see him in the street and so forth. Make his life a misery and he'll soon move on.

Why are we so prissy?

  1. YES! absolutely.
Of course, there'd be the usual hand-wringing about "vigilantes" but so bloody what.
It's high time people let the police, bureaucrats and the judiciary know who their employers are and who they're supposed to be working for.
But the people--as usual--will just whinge and moan and expect "them" to fix it.

  3. Hold the Christian bashing long enough to allow a thought to take hold, LRO. I know it's difficult, but with practice you may get to like it.

Love, compassion and forgiveness don't preclude justice.Neither do they obviate the need for it.
First, must come justice else the rest simply falls apart. Because love, compassion and forgiveness never yet kept the wolves at bay.
And if the system a society has set up to ensure justice is subverted and corrupted then the people who live in that society have a responsibility to either demand justice be applied- or to do it themselves.
Christians were once pretty good at it, until Christianity came to mean unconditional love, fluffy bunnies and deference to the gutless cultural Marxism which has turned men into battery hens and 'love, compassion and forgiveness' became code for spinelessness and acceptance of evil.

  4. LRO - Matthew 18:15-17

15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

  5. Andrei, I'll see your Matt 18 and raise you Matt 5:38-48.

38You have heard that it has been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39But I say unto you, That you resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40And if any man will sue you at the law, and take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.

41And whosoever shall compel you to go a mile, go with him two.

42Give to him that asks you, and from him that would borrow of you turn not away.

43You have heard that it has been said, You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.

    44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

46For if you love them who love you, what reward have you? do not even the tax collectors the same?

47And if you greet your brethren only, what do you more than others? do not even the tax collectors so?

48Be you therefore perfect, even as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.

And maybe KG needs to read his Bible to discover it was JC who was all fluffy bunnies and "acceptance of evil".

Now, as i am not a xian I am quite at liberty to hate my enemies, should i so choose. You, however, must be bound by your master's words.

  6. Aha LRO those verses apply to those who hate me, personally, not to those who oppress others and who are not my enemies per se.

    Acts 20:35

35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

    Psalm 12:5

5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

  7. So now the atheists are suggesting that love means letting someone get raped.

Excuse me, I feel like I'm going to be sick.

Do they now? Where is that spelled out? Tome they read like a universal instruction.

But that's what I so love about the bible - the reader make it twist and turn in to anything at all.

  9. I forgive you, LRO. May the lord bless you and keep you for all your days.
