Good evening Lucyna--we're off to bed to try and catch an hour's sleep before work tonight. I reached retirement age yesterday and it's something of a shock....imagining it is one thing but the reality hits pretty hard!
Good evening Lucyna, another near yearer to being worm food KG. Well done. bay of Islands weekly weather round up. 125% humidity manifested itself into the finest misty rain I have ever seen this week. Stinking farkin hot again with some relief today in the form of stinking farkin hot high winds. Another 15,000 litres of water liberated from the river for the pool and water tank.
Apparently you guys up there have had a full on summer, while as we poor sods, are looking at an early autumn.
Yesterday there was a baby rat in our front garden, probably left behind by the cat that pooed on the lawn. Asterix played with it until she got bored, and this morning found the head and front paws next to the BBQ.
Soon, the mouse migration into the house for winter will commence ...
We have been suffering a drought induced migration this year. Traps have been active in the kitchen and garage since late January. I have not fished a hedgehog out of the pool for 3-4 weeks which leands me to believe they are all dead. I was rescuing one a day until that point. I have even had rats in the pool this year and a particularely memorable Possum who was barely hanging on so I had to make a very fast decision on whether to get the camera or do the baywatch thing. The humanity won out over my fauna paparazzi tendencies. Saying that, this is the coolest evening so far this year and the breeze is picking up again.
Just been trying to get my kids to go to bed. The eldest has to clean the mousecage, which he's done, and have a shower to the chlorine off from swimming, which he still hasn't done. While my 8yo is still floating around, unable to settle down because his older brother is not in bed yet.
Meanwhile, the boys are in bed. All is quiet in the house, except for my noisy laptop and the heat pump sending cold air down to the bedrooms from the kitchen.

Near yearer, eek. Have not had a drink for weeks and my spelking is deteriorating.
ReplyDeleteHi KG,
ReplyDeleteHave a good sleep. Apparently you are only as old as you feel. I don't believe it, really. It would be nice to be 20 years younger again.

Last night I was wishing I was at retirement age and wondering about taking up a new career as a Swagman.
ReplyDeleteToday seems a bit better...
Evening all, just noticed the poplars are changing colour, autumn is here too soon...
ReplyDeleteBarnsley, I'll sell you some water if you like. Auckland has plenty of it. Say, 20,000 litres @ $1 per litre. That's 65% cheaper than oil.

Evening all.
ReplyDeleteBB - I wouldn't touch that Jafa water - it's got all sorts of nasty chemicals in it like chlorine and fluoride.
You're probably much better off your creek water with the odd bacteria or two like giardia.

ReplyDeleteAaaahhhh!!!
I need adult time.
Evening all - we got excited when we woke to rain yesterday but it stopped too soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Homepaddock,
ReplyDeleteThe rain may come back...

Hi to Oswald, Gooner and HIS, if you guys are still around.
ReplyDeleteYes, watching the curling.
ReplyDeleteIt's quite unlike what I have seen played down south.
For one, they all appear sober...
