I don't like campervans - they are slow, awkward to pass, not the least because the drivers usually have, oh, about four hours total experience of driving an oversize, unstable vehicle.
And they never use their mirrors so seem blissfully unaware of the convoy of frustration gathering behind them as they slowly weave their way down our highways.
Still banning them?
A bit of an over reaction I'd say.

Between these parochial tossers that want to ban them from laybys, the DOC tossers that want to ban them from open spaces and other tossers that will be soon be looking for koha from those who wish park adjacent to the foreshore, one wonders if campervans are about to become extinct in NZ.
ReplyDeleteAs you know Andrei, it is really all about the money, nothing else.
The Otago Conservation Board wants a national ban on the use of campervans and will lobby the Government to get its way.
ReplyDeleteTax payer funded organisation I wonder?
We need to ban the entire board from owning ANY vehicle.
I just happen to think that's a good idea. I'm sure we can find a few people to support this idea. Where's my local MP. Might try to get it added as a private members bill.
I don't like those irritating things either, i think also the people stuck behind them should learn to over take and for the coppers to be told that when overtaking, you can exceed the effing limit.
ReplyDeleteI remember a long time ago, i was driving down in South Australia and came upon this train of cars behind a camper, all moving along like quiet little sheep, with a clear road ahead of them, all too frightened or unable to overtake, so i belted it past all of them. Magically, speed didn't kill me, the road nannies will be most upset.
