So the argument goes "dope should be legal because tobacco is". I don't know if you've been paying attention over the last few years, and in particular under National recently, but I think that argument might have a time limit on it.

No, the argument goes: "So, you want to ban a pleasure that does far less harm than other pleasures that are legal and unchallenged. You don't share the taste for that pleasure, you don't enjoy the company of persons who do, and you already caution your children about it and them. But now you want to impose your tastes on nonaggressive others. What's your rationale, Mr. Bluenose?"
