When Judges Impersonate Theologians

Chiesa has published an article that tries to explain the difficulties the modern world has understanding the Roman Catholic Church in regards to the current legal attacks on her due to the paedophile crisis that some would attribute the Pope alone. In Belgium, they drilled into graves to try and find evidence and in the US there are increased attempts to put the Holy Father on trial.

Not only a priest, but even a bishop is not properly an "agent" of the Holy See, not to mention of the State of Vatican City ... The clergy does not represent it, nor does it ordinarily act on its impulse. The authority and guiding force of the Holy See, and of the pontiff in the last instance, over the local Churches, clergy, and faithful, is not that of a chain of command, of a military or business hierarchy.
