Lucia Friday night free for all

It's raining in this corner of the world today. I've just said goodbye to parents of friends my elder son had over, and my last batch of Pina Colada Cup Cakes is baking. More pineapple than coconut, but that's what you get if you just use coconut essence.

Evening all you lurkers out there.

ZenTiger said...

Whoo-hoo! Just noticed our total published posts at exactly 2000.

Not a bad effort after a couple of years.

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

Evening all, from your resident racist. Funny how describing a black bastard as black marks one down as a racist with the weepy eyed denizens of the left.

Lucia Maria said...

Hi Adolf,

Well, racism is one of those things that is dependant on the prejudices of the culture. A handy stick to beat one with. I hope you are not feeling too pummelled.

I.M Fletcher said...

Gidday all. Had a lot of showers here today, but the ground needs it.

ps, what happened to the comment box being at the bottom of the posts? I kinda liked that :)

KG said...

Evening folks. I't's pouring down here out of a black, black (sorry, make that "dark-hued") sky.
Thunder, even!

Andrei said...

Hi all;
Cold and wet down here today - could do with a bit of global warming - I think the IPCC has set the thermostat too low or something

Adolf Fiinkensein said...

Pummelled? Certainly not. We are Presbyterians, you know.

KG, maybe it's Allah getting his own back on you.

Lucia Maria said...

Adolf, glad to hear it!

Hi Andrei, KG, and Fletch.

Yes, need the thermostat turned up. My youngest really, really, really wants to go boogie boarding with his Dad this summer, and so far ... weather and timing not working for him.

ZenTiger said...

We are Presbyterians, you know

Well, that's my pick for "quote of the week"

Although I put my comment on that thread in for best pun:

wiri, pot. kettle.

now think of a colour.

And I think I'll nominate you also for "best racist bastard", by popular acclaim (even if it requires racist-detecting glaces.)

The problem with blog posts is that it is very easy for readers to make snap judgments, and sometimes they happen to be wrong.

It's hard to determine intent in the written word, so I tend to use the phone a bit more than over-use emails in business.

ZenTiger said...

Fletch, I liked it too. The problem seems to be that the inline form disables the arrow keys, cursor movement and delete.

Note to KG: That has probably happened on your blog too. It wasn't the smileys as such, it's a blogger issue. I'm having a hunt around to see if I can find a fix.

KG said...

Hi Zen. No, CR's comments are still embedded. Everything's fine.

I.M Fletcher said...

Zen, hmmm I never noticed any disabling re: editing. Maybe i wasn't paying much attention though.

Ciaron said...

You guys misplaced summer too?

dad4justice said...

The rain is hitting me windows that hard me tomatoes are going green and me spuds are growing ears,me lawnmowers have all had breakdowns and hay carting again the swamp tomorrow.Plants know things are not well. Praise the Lord for laughs :-)

KG said...

Adolf, I don't mind Allah watering the garden. ;-)
We have a fire burning here--maybe we should bill the IPCC for the next cord of firewood.

Lucia Maria said...

Fletch,

It was find if you were doing straight typing and never went back to modify text or insert text or do more than one space between sentences. Just a simple comment, and you'd be fine. But, try and do anything more complicated than that and you'd be in trouble.

It was me that turned it back after not being able to type out and modify my comment. Inserting text from the clipboard didn't work at all (tried the right click menu when my combo of keypresses that I normally use didn't work).

dad4justice said...

And me winter firewwood is going up in smoke.I told you climate change was hip science crapaloa.

Lucia Maria said...

Hi Ciaron and DJ4!

My plants are happy. They're not getting burnt by the intense sunlight and with the rain I don't have to water them everyday. We're getting a reasonable amount of sunlight here, so things aren't too bad. It's just not consistently beach weather.

dad4justice said...

Yes Lucia, unreal growing season, I have a grass seed strike planted Jan 1st, no watering needed. That's a first for this happy gardener.

Ciaron said...

the boy got one of those inflatable pools for Christmas, I swear, when I full it up , it either rains or the temp goes through the floor. Where is my bloody summer!

ZenTiger said...

Re inline comments: Yep, a strange one where the issue came and went. It might be related to the Firefox Browser and a plugin though, I'll need to investigate further.

ZenTiger said...

The AGW camp should have called it "man-made unpredictable weather" and everyone would be amazed at their accuracy over not being able to predict the weather.

We'd be throwing dollars at the IPCC faster than they could open Swiss Bank Accounts.

Ciaron said...

Well, It's a long established fact among Auckland yachties that the metservice couldn't forecast a F*** in a Brothel ;)

homepaddock said...

OPtimists might call it mild - just - in Wanaka. OVercaset most of the day, cool and trying to rain now.

It was hot here last weekend, didn't realise that summer would last only a few days.

Sigh.

Evening all. How has your week been??? While everyone is talking about the weathe rI will give the forcast for Tauranga. Windy with a slight chill - 22 degrees.

I was going to join in tonight until I found out that you have D4 nut case as a contributor.

Never mind, some other time perhaps.

ZenTiger said...

Hint to warm the house: Open the fridge door.

Good job on that triathlon thing. I'd consider entering one of those but there are just to many things to do. Do they have any triathlons with just a bike ride?

How about a golf cart ride 300m, catch a bus 3 stops and drive 5km.

I think I could do that quite well. As a professional, I could probably pick up some milk and bread on the turn around, and score points for parallel parking (added in 1999, still missing in the womens event for some reason).

ZenTiger said...

Come on Big Bruv, he's very nice once you get to know him and you aren't a member of the femi-nazi southern Brighton sumo league.

All are welcome on Friday night. Think of it like Snoopy and the Red Baron having a bit of bubbly down behind enemy lines.

Ozy Mandias said...

You would be fine Zen Tiger. Triathon could be your thing!!! Time is a problem. I just did 1 big bike and run each week and a couple of swims - I am going for my tri coaching badge this year so if you ever need a someone to guide you I'm your man.

Andrei said...

Hi Big Bruv;
We would love to have you here but don't bring that pathological stuff to our comment threads please.

I am tempted to blow your comment away but it condemns you more than anything else.

Ozy Mandias said...

However, I like the idea of your 'urban triathlon'. Perhaps you have to bus to a mall, run around buying slected items and then skateboard home. First back wins.

ZenTiger said...

Sounds great Ozy. I could go into training for that. I'm going to need a coach of your calibre but I'm not sure I have a whole box of chocolate fish, might be able to pay in installments.

Actually, add chocolate fish as one of the pick up items, and that takes care of the coaching fees.

dad4justice said...

Thank you Andrei. I wish big bruv would get help with unhealthy fixation with me. It is really creepy stuff. I wonder what its beef is? I don't want to know until I ask it face to face.

Well, we watched the thing on eating disorders, and are now quite hungry and snacking on terribly unhealthy stuff.

Evening all - no rain here in Wanganui but low clouds and a breeze - great firewood weather - 10 cubic metres to chop split and stack this weekend!

They say doing your own firewood warms you twice - when you cut it and when you burn it, they are right about that!

Off in the dark to round up the gear before the rain does come.

We have the ETS in NZ. But what about Palestine?

Hamas was elected after promising not to implement environmental measures, such as the controversial carbomb tax.

KG said...

The suicide bombers offset the car bombs, by rendering themselves carbon-neutral.
Two homicide bombers = 1 car bomb.
